Hi! My name’s Julia. I’m 12 and

I’m at school in Sydney in
Australia. My favorite subjects are
science and geography. They’re fun! I’m good
at geography, but I’m not very good at science.
It’s hard. My geography teacher is Mrs. Green.
She’s from the U.S. She’s my favorite teacher. My
favorite school day is Tuesday. It’s an easy day.

In the picture, I’m with my friends Carla, Lucy,

and Tom. It’s Saturday and we aren’t at school.
My favorite sport is tennis, but I’m not very
good at it. Lucy is very good at tennis. Carla and
Tom are very good at basketball and they’re on
the school team.

Hello, everyone! Here are three of my favorite things right now.
My number one favorite thing is my new black laptop. I don’t
have a tablet, but my laptop is very small – I keep it in my
backpack! I like gaming and I have 20 games on it. It’s really fast.
You can buy it online. It’s great!
I have an amazing skateboard. It’s my number two favorite
thing. It’s a birthday present from my parents. It’s red and it has
a black jaguar on it. It’s a really cool design! You can buy it at
sports stores.
My old headphones are number three. They’re white and gray.

LIFE AT A TEEN SOCCER CAMP

The Teen Soccer Camp is for 9–16-year-olds. The young people
at the camp come from different countries. Here, 14-year-old
Maria Costa from Brazil describes life at the camp.

“We have a long day at camp. We get up at 8 a.m. and make

our beds. We have breakfast at 9 a.m. We start soccer classes
at 9:30 and we finish at 12:30. We have lunch at 1 p.m. After
lunch, we have soccer again from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Some
students then go swimming. Dinner is at 6 p.m. We help with
the chores in the evening. We set the table and wash the
dishes. After dinner, we can watch a movie or play computer
games. We go to bed at 10 p.m. Everyone is really cool and
the classes are great.”
