Angel academy process

Wash drawing:
1. Using raw (or burnt) umber carefully go over
your tracing strengthening the lines and filling
in the darks. You are aiming for a 2 or 3 value
rendering of the image.
Dead Colour:
2. Dead colouring is the stage of painting in
which you state the overall colour
relationships. You aim for a simple average
colour of every part of the painting. One flat
colour for the lights and one colour for the
darks.
First painting:
3. In this step, the work is completed on the big
form modeling. With direct and opaque
painting, try to put the right color / value in the
right place, through precise color mosaics. The
emphasis in this stage is to build the three-
dimensionality of the form. Avoid blending.
Attention is paid to refining shapes, shades and
variety of tints.
Second painting:
4. A thin layer of paint (couch) is used to cover the
first thicker paint and in this way make it
possible to feel paint wet in the wet again.
Repaint each area with attention to mixing and
rendering. It is in this stage that the most
subtle colors and the tactile description of the
object are sought.
