Overall Course Objectives

The aims of this unit of study are to provide students with an understanding of the basic
methodologies, techniques and tools that are used in the implementation Enterprise Resource
Planning Systems using SAP as an example. It also addresses the issues that need to be considered
for successful implementation. Topics include: ASAP Project life cycle, Implementation strategies,
Change Management, Data conversion, Implementation Testing, Implementing project reporting,
SAP Sales and Distribution and SAP Materials Management.

Intended Learning Outcomes


Knowledge and Understanding

• Learn concepts of ERP and comprehend the technical aspects of ERP systems
• Learn concepts of reengineering and how they relate to ERP system implementations
• Be able to map business processes using process mapping techniques
• Understand the steps and activities in the ERP life cycle
• Be able to identify and describe typical functionality in an ERP system
• Obtain practical hands-on experience.
• Learn concepts SAP and SAP Architecture
• Learn concepts of SAP ERP Core Applications
• Be able to identify and describe the Navigate in a SAP system
• Understand the GBI, Concepts of ( Organizational Data, Master Data, Process Data and
Documents)
• Learn concepts of SAP Sales and Distribution Applications and Organizational Structure
