1. INTRODUCTION:

In support of digital literacy as a 21 st century core


skill, the conduct of Schools Press Conference shall model and
provide opportunities for student-journalists to demonstrate
critical literacy, demonstrate understanding of the importance
of journalism by expressing it through different journalistic
endeavours and approaches: provide activities that will
encourage students to pursue careers/studies in journalism and
enhance journalistic competence through healthy and friendly
competitions.

2. SITUATION:

In the school year 2014-2015 Abra de Ilog Central School is one


of the schools who are looking for the important tools when it
comes to campus journalism because of the latest guidelines
proposed by the Department of Education to be implied by the
advisers and young journalists .

3. PROBLEM:
How can advisers and young journalists of Abra de Ilog Cenral
School, Abra de Ilog District promote their writing skills through
digital literacy in all categories of campus journalism such as.
a. News Writing
b. Editorial Writing
c. Feature Writing
d. Sports Writing
e. Editorial Cartooning
f. Photojournalism
g. Science and Technology
h. Copyreading and Headline Writing
i. Scriptwriting and Radio Broadcasting
j. Collaborative/Online Writing

4. PLAN OF ACTION:

1. Provides advisers and young journalists with 1:1 ratio of laptop


with printer and other device needed in each category like
digital camera.
2. Acquire other reading materials like newspapers and reference
books in campus journalism.
3. Enhances young writers/advisers their writing skills through
trainings/workshops to be conducted by the school..
4. Implement the Republic Act 7079 also known as Campus
Journalism.
5. Monitor the young writers/advisers writing habit.
6. Introduces the new guidelines and tips in campus journalism.
7. Give recognitions, merits and appreciation to the best writers,
broadcasters, photojournalists and cartoonist and other
categories.
8. Always practice their writing skills for their improvements.
9. Select the best young journalists as contestants of the district in
the division/regional/national level.
10.Promote the Department of Education Program in Campus
Journalism through Digital Literacy.

5. ACTION/STRATEGIES:

1. The 1:1 ratio of laptop with printer and digital camera with a
maximum of 10 mega pixel were provided.
2. Other reading materials like different newspapers and reference
books needed in campus journalism were acquired.
3. Young writers/advisers enhanced their writing skills through
training/workshops conducted by the school was enhanced.
4. Implementation of the Republic Act 7079 also known as Campus
Journalism.
5. Monitored the young journalists/advisers writing habit.
6. Encouraged young writers/advisers to have their own school paper
following the new guidelines and tips in writing.
7. Giving recognition, merits, and appreciation to the best writers
photojournalist, cartoonist and broadcasters and in other
categories.
8. Practicing writing skills in different categories for their
improvement.
9. Selecting Select the best young journalists as contestants of the
district in the division/regional/national level.
10.Promote the Department of Education Program in Campus
Journalism through Digital Literacy.
6. DATA ANALYSIS/INTERPRETATION:
After the action and strategies done, the young
journalists/advisers writing skills was improved and the Department of
Education Program in Campus Journalism through digital Literacy
were promoted. Through the used and following the new guidelines
and tips in writing in making the school paper.

7. RECOMMENDATION:

1. School Children starting from the pre-school should be taught or


practice by their adviser/young journalists/staffers in
discovering their writing skills and even in broadcasting.
2. Guidance of the school personnel, school paper advisers,
staffers parents and other stakeholders advisers must be
needed and enhanced.
3. Availability of the gadgets such as laptop/desktop with printer ,
digital camera, audio visual and other materials needed in
journalism must be monitored.
4. Encouraging every school to have their own school organ for the
best dissemination of information happening inside and outside
of the school campus.
5. LOVE for writing among school children should be within their
heart.
