    1. Explain why Ocean Spray is not the typical company.

    Ocean spray is a cooperative of over 700 hundred farmers; ocean spray is not
    owned by just one person.

    2. Can you explain in a few words how cranberries are


    collected?

    The bog is filled with water, then they go over it with a machine that make the
    cranberries detach from the vines, after that they are harvested together and then
    loaded into trucks to get distributed.

    3. What did you find interesting about the founders of


    the company?

    It started with three farmers when cranberries weren’t a product that was
    marketable outside of the thanksgiving period, so they later decided to expand
    their products in order to sell more cranberries: Cranberry sauce, cranberry
    juice, they even sold grapefruit juice, until they began selling their most famous
    product: Craisings.

    4. What was the focus of the company during its early


    years?

    Their main focus during 1930 was Cranberry sauce.

    5. Name the three strategies adopted by Ocean spray


    throughout the years.

    Marketing campaigns, Expanding their products line and they could have
    expanded into different areas of business.
    6. Name some of the most successful products they have
    come up with.

    Their most famous product right now is craisins. Back in the early days was
    cranberry sauce, but it was only bought during the thanksgiving period., they also
    had a whole line of juices and finally they introduced craisins.

    Velasquez brought up the term “craisins“ What do you
    have to say about this?

    It’s a good way of calling a product; it’s short easy to remember and basically just
    summarizes the product very well: Cranberries and raisins, craisins.

    8. Ocean Spray and Pepsi? What comes to your mind?

    Ocean spray has an strategic alliance with pepsi, the term is not new as last
    semester we studied strategic alliances with amcor in BE2.

    9. Who owns Ocean Spray?

    It is owned by a cooperative of farmers, the ones that grow cranberries and other
    fruits. They’re over 700 hundred people within this cooperative that are spread
    across the country.

    10. “The greatness is NOT in the idea, It is in the


    execution” ( Your reflections on this )

    If you have a dream, but you don’t work in order of achieving those goals, don’t
    expect that one day it would come knocking on your door by itself. Your dreams
    are not going to come true on their own. You have to work for it, and it’s not going
    to be easy but at the end, all of that hard work will guarantee your success.

    If you want to be something you’ve never been, you have to do something you’ve never done.
