hospitalized in the middle of the examination week. The doctor said that I need to take a deep
rest because my digest system was not working well. He also added that I had to avoid spicy
food, fried food, junk food, and especially all kinds of soda. I was so angry with myself because
the days before I was hospitalized, I ate unhealthy food gradually. For days, I never drank water,
I kept eating the food from the street which probably filled with a lot of bactheria. In short, I
need to recover for a quite long time and the my parents suggest me to get a total rest. They also
explained to the school that I might need to skip the exam. As a result, I should repeat my whole
classes from the beginning in the next year. From that experience, I learn so many things
including to stay away from any kinds of unhealthy food.

Title: Cinta di Dalam Gelas

Writer: Andrea Hirata

Year: 2010

Language: Indonesian

The novel is about Malay girl named Enong and her difficult life and horrible past captured in
the perpective of conservative Malay people.
Opinion about the novel:

This novel says something about gender and feminism issues, and the writer captures it in critical
and funny at the same time. The novel sows that a woman in a strict patriarchal society can show
her power, get some respect, and be treated as equal as others.
