Ableton Wavetable Manual
Overview
Ableton Live 10 saw a brand new Ableton-native synth, called Wavetable, which allows
for deep control and great sound. Wavetable allows the stretching, shaping and
morphing of wavetable sound into a huge range of sounds. This preset pack contains
120 custom synth sounds for Ableton Wavetable, ranging from classic workhorse synth
sounds, to strange, evolving soundscapes to inspire new pieces.
to oscillators straight from classic synths. It’s powerful matrix modulation means it’s
possible to create deep patches with multiple rhythms and harmonies in a single patch.
For this preset pack, I concentrated on two areas; classic synth sounds and weird,
modulated soundscapes. Every preset is set up so that expression controls such as the
modulation wheel and aftertouch dramatically change the sound, leading to even more
sonic possibilities.
1. Move the Ableton Wavetable Presets into a custom sounds folder somewhere on
2. In Ableton Live, drag the entire Ableton Wavetable Presets folder into the “Places”
3. It will then show up in Live’s “Packs” section, and the individual presets can be found
For easy organisation, all the Reverb Machine Wavetable Presets have been prepended
with ‘RM’, for example RM Juno-6 Brass. All the presets have notes that can be seen in
Live’s Info View, so you can see exactly what the mod-wheel and aftertouch controls
are set to do. Some of the rhythmic patches are synced to Live’s tempo, so can
product different results based on the song. Some of the presets have audio effects
programmed in, these can be adjusted or turned off if you prefer to use your own effect
settings.
