Damien Lacambra shot and killed his wife Amelia at point-blank range with their one-month old son nearby. He was trained in firearms use by the military and knew how to safely handle guns, yet he used that knowledge to murder his wife. During his trial, Lacambra changed his story several times about what happened and lied repeatedly. Releasing him would endanger his family and society since he demonstrated being a threat through his calculated actions of killing his wife. The letter asks the parole board to deny Lacambra parole and make him serve his full sentence to support the victim's family and friends.

RE: Damien Lacambra – DOC# 296119 Indictment Number: 16-CR-1175 Parole Hearing Date – February 10, 2020
Dear Chairman and Parole Board Members:
On April 24, 2016, Damien Lacambra held a gun four inches from his wife’s face, pointed the gun right between her eyes and pulled the trigger while their one month old son was a few feet away. Mr. Lacambra was trained by the United States Army to be a handgun specialist, and as such, he is an expert on the safety features of guns. In fact, he trained soldiers how to use weapons before they were deployed overseas. Because of the gun training he received in the military and the training he provided to other soldiers, he knew how to handle a gun and he used that knowledge to kill his wife. On January 14, 2015, Amelia Forsting and Damien Lacambra got married. While he and Amelia struggled financially, Mr. Lacambra took family money to buy a gun and practice marksmanship. On March 9, 2016, Amelia gave birth to their beautiful baby boy. His name is Luke. Mr. Lacambra had a loving wife and a beautiful baby son, but without regard to either, he killed his wife at point blank range and committed his son to a life without his loving mother. During his trial, the lead detective in the investigation testified that Mr. Lacambra lied several times throughout the interview by changing his story about what happened. He first said the shooting occurred while the gun was being removed from his holster. He then said the gun fired as the clip was being removed from the gun. Mr. Lacambra also stated he was trying to scare his wife by pointing the gun at her and he admitted he pulled the trigger as he tried to induce fear. Finally, after the evidence demonstrated the gun was close to Amelia’s face, he said she was leaning forward when the gun went off. Originally, he stated that he was more than four feet from Amelia, but his story changed only after the evidence proved otherwise. I urge the Parole Board to watch the video of the interview with the detective and the trial to see how many times Mr. Lacambra lied. As the court viewed the interview and the lies became abundantly clear, it became obvious Mr. Lacambra has no respect for honesty or truthfulness. In addition, Mr. Lacambra has an obsession with guns. During the trial, it was entered on record that Mr. Lacambra stated that if he had more money, that he would buy more guns. Since Mr. Lacambra is a weapons expert who shot his wife between the eyes with his son a few feet away, it is clear he is a danger to society. Considering the facts of the case, it is inconceivable that the parole board could allow Mr. Lacambra to leave the prison system. He has demonstrated he is a threat to his family, he is a threat to his son, and he is a threat to civilized society. Please think about what the victims of Mr. Lacambra have endured at the hands of his calculated actions. The parents of the loving Amelia are left grieving because they will never share another moment of her genuine kindness. The rest of her family and friends have been robbed of her openness, generosity and compassion. The beautiful Luke, after only 46 days together, will never know the warmth, love and embrace of his mother. The lives of countless victims have been altered irrevocably by the calculated actions of Mr. Lacambra. Please show your support for the family and friends of Amelia by keeping Mr. Lacambra behind bars where he belongs, and make him serve out his entire sentence. Your consideration is sincerely appreciated,
