1. Linear Algebra, Schaum's Series, S. Lipschutz and M. Lipson (McGraw-hill).
Evaluation: There are three components. 1. Minor tests 40%, 2. Major test: 40%, 3. Quizzes (two of 10 marks each) 20%.
There are two minor tests (20 marks each). There will be a re-minor test and a re-quiz before the major test. This is for the
students who have missed any minor test(s) (respectively quizzes) because of medical reasons. To appear in the re-minor
test and re-quiz one has to apply showing valid medical certificate(s). If anyone misses both the regular minor tests (or
quizzes) there is no provision of two re-minors or two re-quizzes! Besides, there is no "re-re-minor test" or “re-re-quiz”.

Grading: Minimum passing score (i.e., grade D): 30%, the highest grade (i.e., A) : 80%, Grade E (eligible for re-
major): (20-29%), Grade F (fail): below 20%. The other grades are decided depending upon the distribution of
final marks of entire students.
Suggestions: It is expected that students attempt all the problems in the tutorial sheet before they come to the tutorial
classes. Most of the tutorial sheets are for two tutorial classes. Necessary helps will be provided in the tutorial classes. If
any student is having any problems related to this course (e.g., not able to understand, requires extra attention) may
approach his/her instructor by writing an email. Never delay in approaching your teacher once you feel you need help. So
we request you to work hard from the first day itself. Since there is no extra time available to prepare for tests it is
expected that one studies regularly, solves the tutorial problems, clear the doubts in time and does not leave any work
pending. Don't risk to copy/help others or adopt any other unfair means in quizzes or tests. Such cases will be dealt
according to institute policy.
