Addiction comes in all forms, here the term social media addiction refers to a person who spends too
much time engaging and using all forms of social media such as Facebook , Instagram , Twitter, Tinder
and other active social media platforms and apps, which results in affecting a person’s daily life. Social
media are highly addictive. Most people who actively use social media check and interact on social sites
constantly throughout the entire day. And they have no clue how much amount of actual time they
spend on these social media platforms.
There is obviously no problem and nothing wrong in using social media. People use it to check updates
from their friends and to stay connected, some use it for entertainment and to kill time and to be
actively aware of what is happening around. The real problem starts when someone becomes an addict
to this social media and spends most of their time, as a result this bad habit affects their lives in a
negative way. And this is obviously something that one should avoid. Facebook founder Mark
Zuckerberg conducted a survey which says that nearly 1.13 billion active users use Facebook about 50
minutes a day, this will eventually eat up more time in your life than you could imagine. And the worse
case will be that you not realizing the fact that you spend excess time in using this.

It is evident that social media is not going anywhere anytime soon. Social networking is a global
phenomenon that is only increasing in terms of how people from all groups communicate. In one study
it was found that out of one third of social network users, ten percent of their time online was on social
networking apps and networks. In response to this rise in social network usage, alcohol, cigarette
companies have refocused their marketing efforts. A Swiss foreign study showed that users in the higher
percentage of usage, namely teens and adolescents, are found to have a correlation to social networks
in a high time.
Conclusion
With some much to learn and improve we can use social media in a better way, we should realize that
technology helps us move forward but not to waste our time and make us less productive. It’s a great
tool for us to communicate with people but we should not neglect the physical communication that
really matters the most. We should not let it control us. Keep in track of the mentioned tips and get rid
of this disorder and gain control over your own life.
