Pinoy tasty are the common food that we are putting in dining table when we have visitors or
even in occasions likes birthdays, weddings, fiesta and etc. It can also serve during breakfast instead of
eating white rice they chose to eat Pinoy Tasty because it’s can satisfy them because it’s taste so good.
And aside from that it is affordable to buy compare to other loaf bread and can serve to all even in
children or in old’s. In then one day, Filipinos were surprised because the price of Pinoy Tasty seems to
increase as state in the report or In the news. The price of the Pinoy tasty would increase by 10 to 15
percent this month. It is because of the higher cost of Turkish flour (flour they’re using in making Pinoy
Tasty). But according to the bakers, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Edwin Lacierda cinfirm
that there is a pending hike in the prices Pinoy Tasty and Pinoy Pandesal but they assured the public that
the price would remain at the current levels for now.
How will the DTI minimize, if not prevent the pending hike in the pric of Pinoy Tasty without
withdrawing the imposition of higher tariff in Turkish flour.
1. Do you think the demand for Pinoy tasty and Pinoy Pandesal is Elastic? What do you think will
happen to the demand for pandesal and tasty when increase by 15% and by 100%?
If the price of Pinoy Tasty and Pinoy Pandesal increase by 15% it would be considered Inelastic since it is
a regular part of the Filipino breakfast, such a small increase would not be felt by the patrons, they may
buy less of it but the demand would still be there. But if a bakery increases the price of both types of
bread by 100%, the demand may become Elastic. With such a big jump in its price, people may choose
to have rice or other foods where they can get satisfaction for breakfast and also to save money.
2. What do you think will happen to the supply of pandesal and tasty if the price of locally milled
flour increased by 15% and by 100%
3. What are substitutes for pandesal and tasty? Do you think the prices of these substitute will
likewise increase?
4. Do you think the government should implement a price ceiling for pandesal and tasty?
CONCLUSIONS
RECOMMENDATION
I highly recommend to just lower the tarrifs on Turkish flour remaining it’s domestic
competitors. Also to satisfy the needs of people without increasing to tariff too much. Then turkey will
continue their low import of flour.
