About Waves
Waves is BITS Goa’s inter-college cultural fest and is one of the most highly anticipated fests in
the country. It has seen an exponential growth in the number of attendees and is one of India’s
fastest growing fests. The fact that it takes place in perhaps the most vibrant location in the
country, Goa only adds to the possibility of large scale and thorough sponsor marketing.

Over 40 events are conducted during Waves. The
biggest of these include:

The Special Nights
Every year, Waves plays host to some of the country’s finest
artists, comedians, DJs, and bands. There are four Special
Nights during Waves – Bollywood Night, Indie Night, EDM
night and the Comedy Night. These four events are the most
anticipated events of Waves with massive crowds of over
3000. These special nights are by far our most marketable
events and provide unmatched visibility. These nights
definitely come under the top events organized amongst all
colleges in the country. The Comedy Night is held in our
state-of-the-art auditorium while the other three our held at
our outdoor stage.
The Bollywood Night
The Bollywood Night is the biggest event in
Waves. The celebrity presence of our
Bollywood night is unmatched. Last year this
event was headlined by one of Bollywood’s
biggest stars-Farhan Akhtar. The previous
editions saw the likes of Vishal-Shekhar,
Priyanka Chopra, A16mit Trivedi, Shankar
Mahadevan and Salim-Suleiman. Over 3000
people attend the Bollywood Night and logo
presence during any of these nights will get
great visibility.
The EDM Night
The EDM is one of the most student-anticipated
events in Waves. Last year our EDM night went
international as Dj Quintino (ranked 25th in DJ
Magazines top 100 list) headlined the EDM
night. Previously, India’s most popular DJ –
Nucleya and Diego Miranda have also been
student favorites at Waves . The participation
for this event is close to 3000 people and
advertising here is definitely an extremely
attractive option.
The Indie Night
The Indie Night is traditionally held on the first
night of Waves. This event sets the tone of the
fest. We call some of the country’s finest
upcoming Indie bands. Bands like Knight
Shades, The Local Train and F16s have all come
to perform for us. This makes this event another
attractive option for marketing.
Marketing Avenues during
the Special Night( Outdoor)
The outdoor Special nights hold massive potential
for the execution of in-depth marketing strategies.
The following avenues will be used to advertise the
company:

1. An illuminated company logo will be installed


on the main stage during the time of the
performance

2. The company logo will be displayed on the LED


Screens of the outdoor stage during the event.

3. Company Logo will be watermarked on all


photographs of the event released on Social
Media.
4. A special VIP entry line will be made for
attendees who have registered/downloaded
the app/participated in some sort of
promotiactivional ty. ( Put this point only for
companies for which it is applicable)

5. Company Logo will be used as the entrance


stamp for event.

6. Company Logo will be used on the barricades


of the Night’s Arena. Company dropdowns and
standees will be installed on the main stage
during the event.

7. Company will receive compere mentions


during the course of the event.

8. Company Banners and Standees will be


installed on the main Nights
Arena/Auditorium during the event.
The Comedy Night
For comedy nights, we have India’s top
comedians performing 45-minute-long sets that
has never failed to have the audience laughing
until their tummies hurt. It is held at our state of
the art Auditorium, that can seat up to 3500
people. Comedy nights this Waves is all set to
have an amazing line-up. In the previous years,
we’ve had comedians the likes of AIB, East India
Comedy, Zakir Khan, Kenny Sebastian and
Papa CJ headline the show.

Comedy Night( Indoor)
The Comedy Night holds the key to exploit the
opportunities to market in one of the country’s largest
college auditoriums. The following avenues will be used
to advertise the company during the comedy night:

The Big 4 Events
These are the 4 biggest competitions in Waves and recieve participation
from colleges from all over the country. These events are the most
anticipated events with maximum viewership. They hold the most potential
for sponsor integration and brand marketing as they can be heavily
customised to meet the expectations and requirements of its sponsors.
They are also very popular on social media and therefore open doors for
effective online marketing.
Natyanjali
Natyanjali is our flagship group dance event. Over a 100 teams from across
the country take part in this competition. It is conducted in our auditorium
that is capable of seating 3000 people. This event is a student-favorite and
the viewership it receives makes it an event that holds plenty of marketing
potential. The following slide contain a few pictures of last years event.
Mr & Ms. Waves
Mr & Ms Waves is the ultimate personality test. This event consists of 5
rounds held over all 3 days of the festival. The finals of this event are
conducted in our auditorium and is judged by a well known celebrity.
Previous years judges include Aahana Kumra and Raghu from Roadies.
The finals of Mr & Ms Waves is something that the students find to be
extremely entertaining and the high viewership of the finals along with
the celebrity presence makes this one of Waves’ most marketable events.
Sea Rock
Sea Rock is the country’s largest semi-professional band competition with
eliminations in over 8 cities across the country. The finals of the competition are
held in our campus’ auditorium. Rock fans from the campus attend this event as
they get the chance to experience music from some of the country’s best
upcoming bands.
Fash-Parade
This is our fashion design and choreography competition and it receives
participation from teams coming from over 100 colleges. It is one of the most
highly anticipated events in the fest and the hype around the event gives it
immense marketing potential. It’s social media presence is immense and it’s
finals our one of our most viewed events.
Marketing Avenues during the
Big-4 Events

Being the Title Sponsor of a Big-4 event will allow deep


integration of the event with the marketing strategies of
the company. The functioning of the events can be
tailored in order to attain specific marketing objectives
of the company. This can be done in the form of:

a) A particular round of the event can be set based on


the preferences of the company. ( Ex: in fash-p
there can be a round in which the participants has
to use clothes/accessories of a certain band)
b) Company officials can be included in the judging
panel of the event
c) Company products can be sampled amongst the
participants/ displayed in the green rooms/ given
as prizes to the winners
d) Additional company/event specific points
Being the most anticipated events of the fest, the Big-4 events also hold
immense potential for Social Media Marketing. This can be done via:
a) All photos/videos of the events that will be uploaded on the official
Waves Facebook/Instagram pages will have the company logo
watermarked on them.
b) Stories integrated with the Company’s logo/other creatives will be
posted on the Facebook/Instagram pages during the event. This
will not only further integrate the company with the event but will
also serve as a way to generate hype around the event and attract
more people to view the event.

The Big-4 events, being conducted in the auditorium enables the


usage of the following marketing avenues:
a) The projector in the auditorium can be used not only to ensure
logo visibility on the auditorium screen but to also play
promotional videos of the company for the audience in between
performances.
b) The entire auditorium can be used for physical branding in the
form of drop-down banners hanging from the balconies, standess
placed on the stage and near the entrance and also a large 3-D
logo of the company which can be placed on the auditorium stage.
c) Company will receive compere mentions during the course of the
event.
Major Outdoor
Events
These are those events whose finals are conducted on the outdoor stage near our
marketing pavillion. These events form the essence of Waves and are definitely events
with enormous potential for sponsor marketing. The major outdoor events include:
Sizzle, Footloose, Show Me the Funny and Strangely Familiar. These events and their
marketing opportunities are explained in detail in the next few slides.
Sizzle/Footloose
This is by-far one of the most entertaining events conducted during Waves. It
is our solo street-dance off competition. It has a very youthful feel too it and is
guaranteed to always gather huge crowds of students. It has a huge social
media presence and its videos have millions of views on Youtube. The social
media presence along with the hype around this event amongst the students
makes it an event that can be extremely beneficial from a marketing point of
view.
Marketing Avenues for
Sizzle/Footloose

The official Sizzle video made gets hundreds of


thousands of views on Youtube every year. Also, as
seen in the pictures, it always gathers a huge crowd.
Considering this, logo presence in the form of
standees, banners, flags is bound to get unmatched
visibility. Apart from this the dance mat used for such
this event can be customized so as to incorporate the
logo of your company or any other creative you
would desire.

(For automobile companies, we can pitch that the


lighting for this event can be done from the
headlights of the vehicles)
Show Me The Funny
Show Me the Funny (SMTF) is our Stand-Up Comedy competition. It is
conducted on our outdoor stage with participants from college all over the
country. This event too has regional rounds before the fest starts in over 8
cities of the country. It is definitely something that can ensure successful
marketing for it’s sponsors.

Strangely Familiar
Strangely Familiar is by far Waves’ most intriguing events. It is a competition in
which two participants, unknown to each other are paired up and in three days
to get to know each other by participate in quizzes and games as a team. Last
year the judge for this event were famous Youtubers from the channel Filter
Copy.

Pavilion
Our marketing pavilion consists of a collection of marketing zones for our sponsors. The
marketing pavilion is traditionally located near our food court and also contains the
outdoor stage where a lot of our events our held. The marketing pavilion serves as a
chill-zone where hundreds of attendees spend time between major events. A
marketing zone in this pavilion allows the company to directly interact with the
attendees and allows us to execute effective marketing strategies.
Marketing Avenues to be Executed in
the Marketing Pavilion
1. The company can be given a stall in the marketing pavilion.
This stall can be used for various purposes like crowd
interaction, product sales/display/sampling.

2. Special crowd-engaging informal activities for the company


can be organised for the company in the marketing pavilion.

3. Physical branding in the form of banners, standees,


photo-booth, cut-offs and etc will be done near the zone. The
large number of people at the marketing pavilion at a given
point in time ensures that the physical branding gets
legitimate visibility.
Informal Events
Various crowd-engaging informal events can be conducted for the company. These can
be customised completely to align with the requirements of the company. These
informal events play a big part in the marketing of the company as they can attract
hundreds of participants and can make a direct impact on the attendees.

Pitch events like lucky draw contests, photo-booth


contests, interactive games etc

Try to look at the marketing campaigns of the company


and see if there is scope for creating an informal event
related to it.

Also we can integrate DoCW events and pitch them as


well to companies. Think about events that DoCW
could conduct that we can use to pitch to companies
(Example: the virtual cricket thing in Spree used for
KKR)

Campaigns
Waves has a massive presence on numerous social media platforms including Facebook,
Instagram, Youtube and Twitter. We have over 64 thousand likes on Facebook and we
can effectively use this page for not only sponsor posts but also to conduct numerous
social media competitions so as to expand the impact of the company’s association with
Waves. Other platforms can also be used for the same.
Social Media Campaigns

Waves can provide the company with the following


social media marketing:

1. Sponsor release posts


2. Social Media Contests ( GiF- screenshot,
quizzes etc)
3. Integration with fest stories on FB/Instagram
4. Live streams of major events like the nights/
big-4
5. Behind-the-scenes stories of artists/comedians

Adventure Zone

The entire waves adventure zone can be used for the


marketing of the company. This can be done via:

1. Physical Branding
2. Events that can go into the adventure zone.
(Example: soapy football etc)
3. Prizes for certain winners/acomplishements in
the adventure zone.

Waves
Title Sponsor of Waves
The Title Sponsor of Waves will receive the following:

1) The company will be cited as the Official Title


Sponsor of Waves and will subsequently be the
single most branded sponsor of the Fest.
2) It will be also cited as the Title Sponsor of the
Indie Night and will receive all the marketing
avenues associated with that slab.
3) It will be also cited as the Title Sponsor of any
one of the Big-4 Events and will receive all the
marketing avenues associated with that slab.
4) It will receive a exclusive VIP Lounge in the
marketing pavilion.Entry to this lounge will be
allowed only on completion of a certain basic
task (like liking a Facebook page or taking a
picture in a certain photo booth). This zone will
consist of the Gaming zone and will be designed
so as to offer exclusive high level marketing for
the company.
5) A composite logo will be made, it will have Company's
Logo incorporated with the Waves Logo. This will be used
everywhere for branding and publicity including social
media and other publications.

6) All the Waves T-Shirts will have the Company Logo


incorporated on them. Each year thousands of these
t-shirts are bought by the fest attendees.

7) In terms of physical branding, multiple avenues including


banners, standees, stair tags, illuminated logos, entry
stamps, photo booths, direction boards and barricades
for the nights will be effectively used for the Company.

8) A specific social media campaign will be run for the


company along the lines of the Company’s requirements.

9) All other mentioned avenues mentioned under - Informal


Events, Adventure Zone, Marketing Pavilion and Social
Media Campaign will be provided for the company.

The Title Sponsor of Waves Food Fest/ Beverage
Partner will receive the following:

1) We will organise an event that will aim at breaking


a current world record. This will include records
like opening maximum number of cans in a
particular amount of time/maximum bottoms up
in 60 seconds, etc. The company’s beverages will
be used in breaking these records and this will
ensure maximum publicity during the fest.

2) Being the beverage partner for Waves, the


company will be given beverage exclusivity during
the fest. Only the company’s beverages will be
distributed/sold in the food court. Refreshments
provided to the judges of various events and other
participants will include the company’s beverages
only.

3) Competitions like drinkathon, hogathon, mocktail


making competitions, etc will be held in the food
court. These competitions will involve the company’s
food items only.

4) As the title sponsor of the Food Fest, the


company’s theme will be incorporated in the layout
of the food court.

5) The arch gate at the entrance of the food court will


contain the company’s illuminated logo at the centre.
