Modular ISR/Strike need & general approach

• Unfulfilled need for ISR and attack capabilities


• Non-traditional platforms could help fill that gap and enhance
their missions if there were an affordable and practical solution
– Transport aircraft (e.g. C-130, AN-178)
– No A-kit since ISR/attack likely only installed
on small fraction of aircraft
– Modularize B-kit
– Scalable capability (e.g. start with ISR & upgrade
later for attack)
– Practical roll-on/roll-off
• Eliminate need for major prime ($$$) by:
– Keeping solution simple & re-use high
– Using equipment developed & proven for SOF
applications (precision targeting)

How we arrived at a fully palletized C-130 solution

• No existing capability to add ISR/Strike without major Group A modifications


• Short list of negatives – either cost or schedule
– Aircraft down time
– Individual costly fixed turret mounts
– Not covert
• Individual costly removable turret mounts
– Still specific to individual aircraft to retain pressurization capability
– Not covert
• Individual aircraft cabling
• Reduced availability for aircraft to perform its primary mission

What is the WESCAM MatriX™ Modular Mission
System
• A single Roll On / Roll Off (RORO) pallet to convert your C-130 from mobility to
ISR and/or strike capability

– Standard 463L pallet interface to cargo floor


– Completely federated system
– All that is required from the host aircraft is power
– Installation or removal in less than 2 hours
– Completely covert when parked on the ramp
– Two man console with crashworthy seats
– Available with WESCAM MX-25/D, MX-20/D

• Existing paratroop door is raised and


locked in up position
