Global Warming
Introduction:
Global Warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due
to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from
burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would
otherwise escape from Earth. This is a type of greenhouse effect. In 2014,
the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment
Report concluded that "It is extremely likely that human influence has been
the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century."
The largest human influence has been emission of greenhouse gases such
as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. Climate model projections
summarized in the report indicated that during the 21st century the global
surface temperature is likely to rise a further 0.3 to 1.7 °C (0.5 to 3.1 °F) for
their lowest emissions scenario and 2.6 to 4.8 °C (4.7 to 8.6 °F) for the
highest emissions scenario. These findings have been recognized by the
national science academies of the major industrialized nations and are not
disputed by any scientific body of national or international standing.

Global Warming Causes

1) Deforestation:
Deforestation is the cutting down of trees and plants to make way for any
development activity. Mother nature taking out an entire forest is one
thing, but man doing it for the use of crop cultivation, fuel, and other
consumption, is another. Each day our forests are bulldozed for the
prospect of farms and factories. Fuel used for wood and charcoal only adds
to the polluted gases in the atmosphere.
2) Fossil Fuels:
Fossil fuel like coal is burnt to produce electricity. Coal is the major fuel that
is burnt to produce power. Coal produces around 1.7 times as much carbon
dioxide per unit of energy when flamed as does natural gas and 1.25 times
as much as oil. We’re all well aware of the vast amounts of energy
consumed everyday by humans everywhere since our first memories.
Nearly 40% of the U.S. release of carbon dioxide is due to the burning of
fossil fuels-gasoline and electricity in our homes. Finding sources for
renewable energy, clean burning fuel options, and methods to cut back the
amount of energy exhausted, could cut that 40% significantly.

Simple Steps to Deal with Global Warming

Dress warmly when it’s cold instead of turning up the heater. Offer
to help your parents keep the air filters on your AC and furnace
clean. Walk short distances instead of asking for a ride in the car.
Plant trees .Turn off your computer or the TV when you’re not using
it. Take shorter showers. Heating water uses energy. Keep rooms
cool by closing the blinds, shades, or curtains.Turn off the lights
when you leave a room. Use compact fluorescent bulbs etc.

Conclusion

There is a chance that global warming will change our climate in the
next century. So what are the solutions to global warming? First,
there must be an international political solution. Second, funding for
developing cheap and clean energy production must be increased, as
all economic development is based on increasing energy usage. We
must not pin all our hopes on global politics and clean energy
technology, so we must prepare for the worst and adapt. If
implemented now, a lot of the costs and damage that could be
caused by changing climate can be mitigated.
