CULTURE

PARU-PARO FESTIVAL
This populous and progressive city is celebrating its founding anniversary on November 26 with the
staging of the “Paru-Paro” or Butterfly Festival.
Aside from the founding anniversary and city-hood celebration, the Paru-Paro Festival also goes with
the city celebrations of the feast day of the Immaculate Conception on December 8 and Christmas. For
this city, the colorful “paru-paro (butterfly)” is a universal symbol of change, transformation and
celebration.
The Immaculate Conception Parish Church- also known as the Dasmariñas Church, is the first Catholic
parish church in the city of Dasmariñas, province of Cavite, Philippines. The stone church was
constructed right after the establishment of Dasmariñas as a separate parish in 1866
