INTRODUCTION
Liquor and alcohol are widespread among students nowadays. The abuse of this
substance can lead to various complications such as health problems, emotional, mental,
physical, and social disturbances. The observations of Matthews (2004) states that students
who drink alcohol beverages during high school will continue to do so when they step to
university, while those who never experience alcohol in high school will most likely to show
Alcohol maybe the world’s oldest known drug, and has a reputation as a factor relating
to coping with life, inability to face problems, and relaxes social inhibitions and let them
have fun. But most schools, especially catholic schools, drinking liquor is strictly frowned
upon.
Liquor as defined in Merriam -Webster's, it is a very strong alcoholic drink. Many young
people are experiencing the consequences of drinking too much, at too early an age. As a
result, underage drinking is a leading public health problem in this country. Research have
shown that many people have started drinking at a very young age. A study in the year
2003 showed that the youngest age that is experiencing liquor is 14 years old. New research
also show that the younger a person drink the more likely they will display risky behaviours
growing up, and might end up hurting themselves and those around them.
High school is a time for teenagers to grow and develop. But along with their growth is
their curiosity about liquor. This is a time where students are getting pressured by their
peers and being vulnerable means being easily influenced. Research explains that as early
as five years old, children already have their own perception and opinion towards alcohol.
Teenagers have many reasons as to why they drink. May it be because they want to belong,
relax, party, or going through some of us can't understand. What's important is knowing our
limitation and being mature enough to know what's right from wrong.
and other students react to challenges and obstacles in all aspects of our lives. In fact, how
people respond to liquor is a strong indicator of how responsible we are, and show our
Today, most people are faced with different dilemmas. This is one of the reasons why
the rate of alcohol abuse are continuously increasing. Facing their problem is very hard for
them , so some people deem it helpful to turn to alcohol for support. In light with the
increasing population of students who drink, we, the researchers, will conduct this study to
find out who and how many among the senior high school students have experienced liquor.
In this regard, the researchers thought of conducting a experiment to measure the number
This study aims to provide answers to the problems faced by the researchers,
specifically involving the students' experience with liquor within the Gr. 11 and Gr. 12
students from all different tracks, in order to come up with an educated guess. Hence, the
HYPOTHESES
1. Yes. As long as they don't drink too much and it doesn't affect their daily routine and
responsibilities. It is also ideal if there is an adult to supervise them while they drink,
2. Those who drink would undergo a series of things such as blurring of vision, loss of
judgement.
3. There are long-term and short-term effects. Various kinds of accidents are possible,
it can affect the students' relationship and life at school. Health problems are also
RATIONALE
We, the researchers feel obligated to let everybody know the effects of drinking liquor
if we choose to do this for “experience". We abandon rational thought and makes really poor
decision. We also would like to know who among the randomly selected students have
experience drinking liquor and those who haven't. Once we get the result of this we will
conduct a survey about the things they felt or experienced after drinking liquor. The goal of
this study is to make ourselves as well as other students aware of their actions and the
consequences of it.
SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
This study focused on the drinking of liquor among Senior High School students as
experience. Quotient of Selected senior high school students from St. Pauls University Iloilo
during the Second Semester of Academic Year 2019 – 2020. The respondents of the study
were composed of 160 randomly selected senior high school students which comprise 20%
of the total population. The results of this study is applicable only to the respondents of this
study and should not be used as a measure of the effect of drinking liquor on the number of
The researchers considered working on this study to find out how many students have and
still have not experience liquor and to know the things they will experience if they are to
drink. We need to match our statement of the problem with out hypotheses and to observe

EXPERIENCE?
The independent variable in this study is the liquor. The frameworks shows the
procedure of the study, and need to compare the results with the hypotheses given. The
dependent variable are the respondents, which are the randomly selected students.

This study that we are going to conduct will determine the statistical numbers of
students who has experienced drinking liquors and those who have not yet. It is not the
only thing that we are trying to prove, but also we need to share the bad effects caused by
these substance and to educate them about possible consequences they will get from
It is understandable why liquor is strictly banned at school for this is a Catholic school and
yet many students are still doing it outside the campus. We will create a major impact
amongst the students who haven't even tried liquors. Before they acquire a mind set from
their peers that it is fun to drink. We will not let the students to drink only to let them know
about the disadvantage of it, but is also beneficial for our health. We, the researchers wants
to raise awareness among the students that they should drink in moderation and to not let
