waterproofing work.

a) Plastering works for the parapet walls. During plastering a 15 x 15mm

grooves to be prepared at 30 cm height from the existing slab level.

b) Sleeves of electrical and air-conditional penetrations at minimum 25

cm height from the existing slab level.

5.0 Waterproofing system Installation

5.1 Waterproofing Membrane:

Horizontal areas

 Apply one coat of Bituminous Primer complying ASTM D-41 on the floor top
level surface and up stands by brush or roller.

 Lay one layer of 4mm thick Elasphalt 4170 SBS (Normal) Membrane to be
fixed by heating the underside with a gas torch on primed surfaced of
screed and all joints to be welded with LP gas torch as per manufacturer’s
instructions. (Minimum overlaps 10cm and end lap 15cm).

5.2 Waterproofing Membrane:

Vertical areas

 A 4mm thick Elasphalt 4170 SBS (Slated) Membrane to be installed for all
up stands and Upper edge should be terminated to groove on parapet with
Bituminous sealant as per the installer instructions.

 Fix 1.5mm thick 125mm wide Stainless Steel flashing to the parapet wall
and upper edge filled with Polysulphide sealant

5.3 Termination to rain water outlets

 Remove the top cover of the roof drain and fix waterproofing membrane
on top of flanges after applying one coat primer as first layer before
starting the Horizontal area base membrane Installation. After water test
close the drain with cover.

6.0 Field Quality Control

 Test each area for leaks after waterproofing and before protection course
and overlaying construction are placed. Plug drains and fill with water to a
Maximum water depth of 100mm and flood each area for 24 hours.
