There are three clear glimpses from the history of Vrndāvana’s: the time when Krsna

was on earth; the period just following Krsna’s disappearance, during which his great
grandson Vajranābha reclaimed the dhāma; and the span of time from Lord Caitanya’s
appearance to the present. Of these three, the latter two are particularly important for
the purposes of Govardhan Eco village because they reflect the importance of
excavating Krsna’s pastime places and His abode in order to attract devotees to the
dhāma.

After Krishna wrapped up his pastimes on earth, once King, Parīksit came to Mathurā
while touring his empire, where Vajranabh complained that — although Mathurā and
the kingdom of Ś ūrasena were thriving under his governance— the area surrounding
Mathurā, Vraja, was uninhabited and its villages were deserted. Seeing no way to
resolve this problem, Parīksit Mahārāja called upon Sāndilya Rsi for guidance."

Sandilya Muni then asked King Vajranabha to colonise the original villages of Vraja and
name them according to the pastimes Krsna enacted there for the welfare of the
common man and the transcendentalist alike,.

“Rebuild Govardhana, Vrindavan, Mahāvana, Nandagrāma, and geharvana, and restore

the river banks, lakes, groves, and mountains to their original glory. In this way you will
serve the earth.”In our attempts to serve the earth, at Govardhan Eco Village, Vrindavan
forest we have rebuild the places of Krsna’s pastimes for future generations to add to
the unending fame of Krsna, his devotees, and the mercy of divine land of Vrindavana.

Like Mahārāja Parīksit sent architects, engineers, craftsmen, artists, and masons to
Mathura from his own capital, Indraprastha and with the guidance of Sāndilya Muni,
Vajra identified and re-established the many places in Vraja-mandala where Krsna had
enacted pastimes with the gopas and gopis; with the help of several devotees we have
also been able to rebuild several pastime places of Krsna.

Vajra’s renovation of Vraja-mandala is significant in that it is the first known instance of

building up the dhāma. Naturally this supports the idea of renovating Bhauma
Vrndāvana as well as establishing Vrndāvana in countries all over the world. Srila
Prabhupada requested devotees to rebuild Dhama and excavate holy places for the
generations to come. Srīla Prabhupāda says, “The Western boys and girls are taking to
Krsna consciousness, and they should have a place like Vrndāvana.”

Vrindavan forest at Govardhan Eco Village is one such effort of reestablishing dhama for
the welfare of the whole world and please Srila Prabhupada. Someone may ask t - Why
rebuild Vrndāvana? Why construct monuments and install Deities? Why enhance the
atmosphere with Krsna consciousness and pure devotion? The answer: Because Krsna
is still enjoying His pastimes there. And because Krsna’s devotees — due to their
affection for Krsna, who is not different from His transcendental abode — are naturally
inclined to make the visible dhāma worthy of Krsna and His pastimes.

The glories of Vrndāvana-dhama are worthy of being sung every where, by everyone.
The dhāma serves as a guiding light of hope for all the wayward souls of this world.
Vrindavan Forest is one such guiding light and we invite you to participate in spreading
the light of hope to every desiring soul in this world be a part of this historical journey…
