THE ARTICLE “A - AN”


El articulo indefinido en inglés “a - an”, es invariable en género; por lo tanto
la misma forma sirve para el masculino “un” y para el femenino “una”.
 Se usa “a” antes de palabras que comienzan con sonido de consonante.
EXAMPLES: a book – a pencil – a door.

 Se usa “an” antes de palabras que comienzen con sonido vocal.

The verb To Be means “Ser o Estar”.


The verb To Be has three forms: “AM – IS - ARE”

THERE IS AND THERE ARE

There is – there are se traduce como “hay” en español.

THERE IS: Usamos THERE IS, para el singular.

THERE ARE: Usamos THERE ARE, para el plural.

COUNTABLE AND UNCOUNTABLES NOUNS


What is a noun?
- A noun is a name of a person, place, thing or idea. Everything you can
see.

COUNTABLE NOUNS: Are easy to recognize, they are all thing that we can
count.
 Have singular and plural form.
Example: pen – pens / strawberry – strawberries.
 We can use the article “a” - “an”
Example: a table – an orange
 We can use numbers.
Example: one tiger – ten pineapples

UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS: Are substances, concepts that we cannot divide into


separate elements. We cannot count.
 Don’t have plural form.
Example: milk (correct) / milks (incorrect).
 We can’t use article “a” - “an”
Example: sugar (correct) / a sugar (incorrect)
 Never use numbers.
Example: money (correct) / five moneys (incorrect)
