Personal Statement
The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he
wants done, and self-restraint to keep from meddling with them while they do it. I
believe in this adage and molded myself through rigorous practice and observation to
pick the right people for the right job. For example, when I led the School Kabaddi
Team, I choose my team in such a manner that it was a mixture of different people with
different strengths, some known for their aggression and some known for their
calmness and the different duties were assigned to them accordingly. The results were
encouraging and after many more such experiences I realized that I have the that
inherent instinct to choose the right people and get the job done. My interpersonal
skills are a key consideration for employers when they're sizing up for my management
potential.
My name is Naga Swetha Annapa and I would like to pursue a MSc Business with
International Management and Advanced Practice from Northumbria University. I have
done my Bachelors and later worked for an IT company as an Administrative Associate.
Here, I was involved in administrative tasks like providing support for all staff members
such as drafting documents and answering telephones, as well as administrative jobs,
including scheduling and project management. I have gained sufficient knowledge in all
tasks related to the administration of the organization. I would now like to enhance my
skills so that I will be equipped to deal with all administrative tasks of a reputed
organization irrespective of which domain the organization is into.
I have chosen this course because I have done my bachelors in a domain which is not
related to business and this course is very much suitable for me as it is for all the non-
business background students like me and it will equip me with the skills needed to
manage the daily tasks of a company. One of the greatest advantages of MSc Business
with International Management and Advanced Practice is that it offers a way to advance
my business knowledge immediately after graduating a Bachelor’s programme. Classic
business Masters, such as an MBA, usually require a considerable amount of initial
work experience to be admitted – somewhere between 3 to 5 years of work. A lot of
masters in management courses do not have work experience requirements or expect a
maximum of one year of previous employment.
UK universities are known for their education quality across the world. Most
qualifications students like me gain with them are recognized all over the world. The
university advisors or counsellors provide advice on everything related to the course or
any other aspect of my stay in UK making me feel at home and helping me concentrate
on my studies. The Colleges and universities in UK maintain high standards of
education and the system is regularly accessed to meet international quality standards.
Back home the education system is not in par with global standards and the various
colleges that offer the course have their own curriculum and there is no regulator who
would access the standards to maintain quality and to see that the students benefits
from the course. In most cases the approval is granted without any norms and
standards in place. This is the reason most Indian students like me opt for international
education.
Northumbria University is located in Newcastle and is ranked among the top universities Commented [KK1]: Why northumbria for an Indian
in UK providing quality education to students. We get an opportunity to connect with student, facilities,support highlight on those grounds
professionals from the industry who will guide me on various challenges that I may
come across. For international students the university provides guidance on matters
related to Immigration and visa related issues and also accommodation once I land in
UK. The University also conducts various programs like the “Meet and Greet” program
where the university arranges transport from the Newcastle airport to my
accommodation and important of all is that there is a helpline for international students
like me to get advice on various issues that I may come across in UK.
The MSc in Business with International Management and Advanced Practice is Commented [KK2]: Correct name of the course
designed to give me expertise in facets pertaining to managing a business. I can enter
the master’s program with an undergraduate degree of my choice. As my
undergraduate course is not related to management and as I would like to gain
expertise in management with respect to my bachelor field this is the most suitable
course for me. Having a combination of management skills along with the domain
specific skills is what the companies are looking for in employees. While enrolled, I will
learn to critically analyze challenges and issues facing global businesses in the modern
world. I will graduate armed with broad bases of knowledge. I hope to become an
Administrative Manager in the future and after having earned the master’s degree, I will
not only have expertise in business management; but also, will have a competitive edge
when applying for jobs or moving up within the organization. By tailoring the coursework
to meet my needs of I can become a leader in my chosen field. This course will equip
me with the necessary attributes to become an administrative professional and also
help me get the exposure I need to survive in a globalized world.
For students like me with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Sciences, the MSc
Business and International Management with Advanced Practice degree is very
valuable and increases the value of my profile immensely. I would like to conclude this
by saying that studying at Northumbria University will open new doors for me and will
give me a different perspective on life. The skills that I gain during my course will enable
me to take up new challenges that I may come across in the future. Looking forward to
