    bujh gayaa dil chiraaGh jalte hii

    khul gaye shahr-e-Gham ke darvaaze


    ek zaraa sii havaa ke chalte hii

    kaun thaa tuu ke phir na dekhaa tujhe


    miT gayaa Khvaab aaNkh malte hii

    tuu bhii jaise badal saa jaataa hai


    aks-e-diivaar ke badalte hii

    Jo bhii ghar se jaataa hai


    ye kah kar hii jaataa hai
    "dekho, mujh ko bhuul na jaanaa
    maiN phir lauT ke aauuNgaa
    dil ko acche lagne vaale
    laakhoN tuhfe laauuNgaa
    naye naye logN kii baateN
    aa kar tumheN sunaauuNgaa"
    lekin aaNkheN thak jaatii haiN
    vo vaapis nahiiN aataa hai
    log bahut haiN aur vo akelaa
    un meN gum ho jaataa hai

    minh, hawa, tufan, raqs-e-sayeqat
    shash-jahat par tirgi umari hui
    ek sanate main bazm-e-hadsat
    aur meri khirki k niche
    kanpate peron k pat
    char su awara hain
    bhule bisre waqayat
    jhakkaron k shor main
    jane kitni dur se
    sun raha hun teri bat

    Bechain bahut phirna ghabaraye hue rahna


    ik ag si jazbon ki bahakaye hue rahna

    chalkaye hue chalana khushbu-e-begani ki


    ik bag sa tha apna mahkaye hue rahna

    is husn ka shewa hai, jab ishq nazar aye


    parde main chale jana, sharmaye hue rahna
    ik sham si kar rakhna kajal k karishme se
    ik chand sa ankhon main chamkaye hue rahna

    adat hi bana li hai tum ne to 'Munir' apni


    jis shahar main bhi rahna uktaye hue rahna

    Chaman main rang-e-bahar utra to main ne dekha


    nazar se dil ka gubar utra to main ne dekha

    main nim shab azma k hasrat ko dekhta tha


    chaman main wo husn zar utra to main ne dekha

    khumar mai thi wo chehra kuch aur lag raha tha


    dam-e-sahar jab khumar utra to main ne dekha

    gali k bahar tamam manzil badal gaye the


    jo saya ek ku-e-yar utra to main ne dekha

    ik aur dariya ka samna tha 'Munir' mujh ko


    main ek dariya k par utra to main ne dekha

    us bewafa ka shahar hai aur ham hain dosto


    ashk-e-rawan ki nahar hai aur ham hain dosto

    sham-e-alam dhali to chali dard ki hawa


    raton ka pichla pahar hai aur ham hain dosto

    ankhon main ur rahi hai luti mahfilon ki dhul


    ibrat bara-e-dahar hai aur ham hain dosto

    ye ajnabi si manzilen aur raftagan ki yad


    tanhaiyon ka zahar hai aur ham hain dosto

    Dar k kisi se chup jata hai jaise sanp khazane main


    zar k zor se zinda hain sab khak k is wirane main

    jaise rasm ada karte hon shahron ki abadi main


    subah ko ghar se dur nikal kar sham ko wapis ane main

    nile rang main dubi ankhen khuli pari thin sabze par
    aks para tha asman ka shayad is paimane main
    dil kuch aur bhi sard hua hai sham-e-shahar ki raunaq main
    kitni ziya be-sud gai hai shishe k lafz jalane main

    main to 'Munir' aine main khud ko tak kar hairan hua


    ye chehra kuch aur tarah tha pahle kisi zamane main

    Dil Jal Raha Tha Gham Se Magar Nagmagar Raha


    Jab Tak Raha Main, Saath Mere Yeh Hunar Raha

    Subah-E-Safar Ki Raat Thi, Taare The, Aur Hawa


    Saaye Sa Ek, Der Talak, Baam Par Raha

    Meri Sada Hawa Mein Bohat Door Tak Gayi


    Par Main Bula Raha Tha Jise, Bekhabar Raha

    Guzari Hai Kya Maze Se Khayaalon Mein Zindagi


    Doori Ka Yeh Tilism Bada Kaargar Raha

    Khauf Aasmaan Ke Saath Tha Sar Par Jhuka Hua


    Koi Hai Bhi Ya Nahin Hai,Yehi Dil Mein Dar Raha

    Is Aakhiri Nazar Mein Ajab Dard Tha ‘Munir'


    Jaanay Ka Uske Ranj Mujhe Umr Bhar Raha
