QMS: It is a set of interacting elements that directs and control
the organisation with regards to quality of the product or
services.
What is QMS?

Quality Management System is a structured collection of policies, procedures,


processes and their associated responsibilities.

Quality management systems serve many purposes, including:

● Improving processes
● Facilitating and identifying training opportunities
● Engaging staff
● Setting organization-wide direction
BENEFITS OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS:
Two overarching benefits of quality management systems include:
❏ Meeting the customer’s requirements, which helps to install
confidence in the organization, in turn leading to more customers,
more sales, and more repeat business.
❏ Meeting the organization's requirements, which ensures
compliance with regulations and provision of products and services in
the most cost and resource-efficient manner, creating room for
expansion, growth, and profit

Establishing a quality management system helps organizations run effectively.
Before establishing a quality management system, the organization must identify
and manage various connected, multifunctional processes to ensure customer
satisfaction is always the target achieved.

What is ISO 9001?
● ISO 9001 is the International Standard for Quality Management Systems, first
published in 1987 by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), it is
one of the most commonly used management tools across the world.
● ISO 9001 is designed to help organisations ensure that they meet the needs of
customers and other stakeholders, by having a framework in place that helps ensure
consistent quality in the provision of goods and/or services.
● This standard uses a process approach and is based on quality management
principles, which include having a strong customer focus, the involvement of top
management, and a drive for continual improvement.

ISO 9001:2015
ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a quality management system when an
organization:
a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet
customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and
b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system,
including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to
customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
All the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 are generic and are intended to be applicable to any
organization, regardless of its type or size, or the products and services it provides.
