History of Nishat Mills Limited
In 1951, Nishat Mills was founded by Mian Mohammad Yahya. The founder
was a hard working man, who wanted to take the business to the highest level
of success. His sheer hard work made this possible. His courageous and
optimistic attitude made the company grow and prosper. He started his work
from a cotton export house which then led to multiple branches like ginning,
jute textile, insurance and chemicals. He wanted his country to establish its
own industrial base and luckily he was made the chairman of All Pakistan
textile Mills Association. In such a short time he had great level of success; he
died at the age of 51 in 1961.
Nishat Mills Limited was a partnership company at first and then it converted
into a private limited company. They sold their shares in the Karachi stock
exchange and then went public. Then they became public limited company,
they gradually grew and became a huge company. As their shares were bought
in the stock market the shareholders grew in number, meaning it was
company’s era of success. It started out as weaving unit with 500 semi-
automatic looms; later 10000 spindles were added, it then led to become the
nation’s biggest textile composite project. The company has two textile
divisions in Faisalabad and Chunian. Faisalabad covers the land of 98 acre and
has the production process of weaving, spinning, processing, stitching and
power generation.
In 1989, the company got listed on Lahore stock exchange and then in 1992 it
got listed on Islamabad stock exchange. This slowly made it company grew
and now it is among the leading business houses in the country and also is
ranked five in the terms of sales and revenue. The Nishat group has four core
business namely textiles, power generation, banking and cement. In the textile
capacity has the production process of weaving, spinning, processing and
finishing which involves the process of dyeing and engraving. This textile is
the largest in the country with many spindles, looms and dyeing and finishing
capacity. Now the company has grew into an export oriented organization in
which most of its product is exported to Far East, Europe and United States.
Its Cement company and Bank commercial has grown since and is largest
now.
