    THESIS TITLE: Split Type Air Conditioning System

    with Remote Automated Color Changing Germicidal


    UV-C Led Light Lamp.
    Ultraviolet technology is a non-chemical approach to
    disinfection. In this method of disinfection, nothing is added
    which makes this process simple, inexpensive and requires very
    low maintenance. Ultraviolet purifiers utilize germicidal lamps
    that are designed and calculated to produce a certain amount of
    ultraviolet.

    UV-C LED light helps to destroy germs, bacteria and viruses


    by deactivating the DNA of bacteria, virus and other pathogens
    and thus destroys their ability to multiply and cause diseases.
    Specifically, UV-C Led light causes damage to the nucleic acid
    of microorganisms by forming covalent bonds between certain
    adjacent bases in the DNA. The formation of such bonds prevent
    the DNA from being unzipped for replication, and the organism is
    unable to reproduce. In fact, when the organism tries to
    replicate, it dies.

    Infectious diseases are the main problem of every people in


    the world, particularly in the Philippines. Diseases are caused
    by viruses that spread through airborne transmission. Ever since
    scientist and medical professionals are continuously researching
    for the best possible way of limiting and destroying harmful
    viruses that caused countless casualties in people's lives.

    In this study, Germicidal UV-C Led lamps will be used in a


    split type air conditioning system. The UV-C led lamps will be
    installed at the back of the filter. The filter will remove all
    the dirt particles from the room air and will pass through the
    UV-C led lamps for further disinfection. Three UV-C led lamps
    will be installed at the back of the filter. The first UV-C led
    lamp will be in color red, the next is in color blue and the
    last will be a combination of red and blue light. Each light is
    consists of different UV treatment wavelength. The UV-C
    germicidal treatment must have a minimum of 240 to 280 nm
    wavelength to induce the DNA damage of bacteria and viruses.

    Children catch infectious diseases easily due to their


    daily activities. Most of their time is spent in a Day Care
    Center where viruses can spread through the circulation of air
    in the facility. This project aims to design an air conditioning
    unit that could help in destroying infectious viruses. With the
    use of germicidal UV-C led lamps installed in a split type air
    conditioning system, air circulating through the facility will
    be dust and virus free. A free to virus Day Care Center is the
    key to a conducive learning facility.

    Problems:
    1. The button/s for operating the UV-C Led lamps must be in
    the same remote control of the air conditioning unit.
    2. The size of the UV-C Led lamps to be used to fit into the
    split type air conditioning unit (the indoor part).
    3. The virus/ bacteria testing when the UV-C Led Lamps are in
    used.
