I- OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the students should be able to:
EN7G-IV-c-5 (Use verbs when giving information and making explanations.)
a. Classify verbs according to their types.
b. Use verbs meaningfully in sentences.

The teacher gives a short review on verb phrases.

B. Motivation

Lights, Camera, Action!

The teacher will divide the class into 2 groups. She will ask one representative to pick
one verb from the box and act it out in front. The rest of the group members will guess
what verb it is and write it on the board. The group who can identify the verb first gets
one point.

C. Presentation
Activity : Pieces of Me
The teacher will divide the class into five groups. Each group will be given word strips
and arrange those words in meaningful sentences. The first group who can form more
sentences will be declared the winner.
a. Mother brought us up single-handedly.
b. She looked at her handiwork.
c. Mother sacrificed much for us.
d. Anita touched my arm gently.
Analysis:
1. What do the italicized words have in common?
2. What do you call those kinds of words?
3. What do these words suggest?
4. When do we use these words?
Abstraction:

VERBS

A verb is a word that expresses an action or state of being.

Action verbs and state of being verbs (linking verbs) are the two main categories of

verb.
