Main Job Purpose


Manages the mainstreaming of gender and developing gender responsive community
development programmes in all locations to ensure that integration of gender, youth, disabled
and marginalize as a process is strengthened and mainstreamed taking into consideration
gender dimensions in the SOS community development programme.

Principal Job Accountabilities (Key Outputs of the Job)

Output 1: Gender Audits


Definition: Conducts organizational and programme gender audits to ensure that
intervention action plans to address audit findings are developed

Output 2: Gender Action Plan


Definition: Facilitates development of annual gender implementation action plans in
collaboration with relevant stakeholders’ to ensure that gender mainstreaming
in facilities/projects and organization cycles is coordinated.

Output 3: Coordinated Gender Mainstreaming


Definition: Manages and coordinates gender objectives and initiatives mainstreaming, to
ensure that promotion of girl child education and policy influencing at facility
and national level is coordinated

Output 4: Developed Gender Tools


Definition: Develops mechanism for identification, documentation and dissemination of
advocacy work to ensure that best practices are documented and disseminated
for learning purposes.

Output 5: Capacity building Input


Definition: Provides support in building understanding and capacity building of the
programme team in regard to gender mainstreaming to ensure that the team is
empowered to influence policy change.

Output 6: Maintained Strategic Relationships
Definition: Collaborates with donors, NGOs, government, UN agencies and religious
institutions to ensure strategic gender policy networks and coalitions with
likeminded agencies and organizations are established, strengthened and
maintained

Output 7: Coordinated Monitoring Evaluation


Definition: Coordinates the monitoring and evaluation of gender activities to ensure that
mechanisms to track and support implementation of initiatives are established.

Output 8: Gender Research
Definition: Facilitates and coordinates gender research, documentation and dissemination
to ensure that evidence based information is generated to inform and influence
policy and decision-makers.

Output 9: Education Awareness Campaigns


Definition: Facilitates gender education campaigns through workshops, seminars,
trainings and exposure learning visits to ensure awareness for social change
and justice is promoted among staff, communities and other partners

JOB FACTORS

Education
Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 O Levels with a Bachelor degree in Social Science and
Development Studies from recognized university.

Experience
At least three (3) years working experience in gender development field. Practical knowledge
of facilitation skills. Knowledge of Gender Education and awareness raising, policy
influencing and monitoring and community mobilization. Knowledge of different community
cultures and ability to communicate clearly & audibly with different kinds of people.

Interpersonal communication skills


Works in close collaboration with other programme staff to manage advocacy mainstreaming
in the Family Strengthening Programmes.
