Modified Interview For Deterioration in Daily Living Activities in Dementia (IDDD)
The IDDD is not commonly used in clinical practice, and is included for your information only.
This scale examines both self-care and complex instrumental activities and has been shown to correlate with
scores on the CAMCOG — a comprehensive performance-based instrument similar to the ADAS-cog.
This version of the IDDD was modified from the original published scale which evaluated only the severity
of functional impairment. The modification was conducted with the permission and approval of the author,
Dr. Saskia Teunisse. The IDDD now contains the original “severity” scale for use at Baseline, and a “change”
scale for use at subsequent assessments.
Instructions:
This section should be answered on the basis of a structured interview with the Caregiver. The Interviewer is
reminded to review the Patient’s Baseline Severity rating prior to conducting this evaluation. It may be helpful to
use comments recorded from the Baseline assessment to prompt discussion and evaluation of functional activities
specific to this Patient. The Interviewer should encourage the Caregiver to provide concrete descriptions of any
changes noted. Each item should be rated according to the degree of change from the Patient’s level of disability
at Baseline. A seven-point scale is used.
