    MY PORTFOLIO

    The number one reason I chose to become a teacher is that I
    enjoy seeing children progress and learn new concepts.
    Moreover, I really want to make a difference in the lives of the
    learners, especially those learners who don’t receive affection at
    home and nobody support them to reach their goal to become
    great. I was a full time mother then, when realize that I have a
    mission to fulfil, because when I took the Licensure
    Examination for Teachers, I made a promise to God that if I will
    pass the examination I will teach the children wholeheartedly. I
    was disappointed that a topic so intriguing was reduced to a
    coloring sheet for these eager young minds. I decided that very
    day, I would return to school so I could enrich student learning
    and make all concepts engaging to student interest by becoming
    an elementary educator. Although, achieving this goal has been
    difficult at times, I have grown to value every step and
    accomplishment along my journey. I feel that this experience is
    invaluable to me as an educator because it has helped me to hold
    my own students to a higher standard, knowing the worth of
    accomplishing important goals.

    I am a very hard worker and I am truly dedicated to whatever I


    may be involved in. I love children and they seem to be drawn to
    me as well. I am compassionate about creating an environment
    where the students can learn on their own level through
    differentiation and the incorporation of Sheltered Instructional
    Observational Protocol (SIOP). I am good at solving problems
    creatively to enhance the learning experience of the
    student. Also, I am able to adapt easily to whatever situation I
    am placed in. I have a lot of experience working with young
    children. For example, I worked in early intervention for three
    years, taught a preschool that I ran out of my home, and worked
    in a title one school as a teacher’s aide. Further, I spent a lot of
    time in conferences and educational training to earn my Early
    Intervention One credentialing, which I feel has prepared me for
    a job in education working with young children.

    My education has been expanded tremendously with experience


    as an Intern for Washington Elementary School. I have been
    given the opportunity to be mentored during my student
    teaching with an experienced teacher and reading
    interventionist. I have learned skills in whole brain teaching that
    incorporates using the entire body to engage students, not only
    physically, but mentally as well. The training I have received
    under the tutelage of this mentor has helped me to better
    understand the importance of team work and collaboration in
    increasing the growth and learning of my students.

    My long term goals are first, to have a classroom dedicated to


    the joy of learning; second, to always update and improve upon
    my teaching skills; and last, to make every child I come in
    contact with feel like an integral part of my class. I plan to
    attend teacher improvement seminars and technology courses so
    I can stay current and keep my teaching strategies engaging and
    motivating. Also, I plan to further my education by earning
    endorsements in reading, Gifted and Talented Education, and
    technology then eventually gain my Master's in Education. I
    know my love for learning will be ever increasing as I continue
    to teach and learn each year. My ultimate goal in becoming a
    teacher is to have a positive impact in the lives of the children I
    teach. I know that by using great teaching practices,
    collaborating with more experienced educators, and continually
    reflecting on my own teaching, I will have the ability to support
    student learning and aide students in reaching their greatest
    potential
