6.2 Install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2

This section illustrates how to install the required Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2
components.
Note:
 It is not possible for Microsoft IIS and Apache Web Server to simultaneously listen on the
default port 80. To ensure Apache Web Server listens on the default port, uninstall IIS from
the AS (as local administrator) using Add/Remove programs (Windows Components) from
the Control Panel. If you need to configure the Apache Web Server to listen on a non-
default port, contact your AVEVA business support unit.
 The Oracle AS does not function correctly if the Windows Component “Internet Explorer
Enhanced Security Configuration” is installed. This must be removed using Add/Remove
programs (Windows Components) before installing Workbench.
 It is a requirement that the AS is configured with a static IP address.
 Log on as the local Administrator user.
 Stop any Oracle services on the AS.
 Install the required Oracle AS components.
 The VPRM AS Setup program requires the Oracle 10gR2 AS to be installed to an oracle
home called “FRHome1”.

7.2 Install Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g

This section illustrates how to install the required Oracle Weblogic Server and Oracle Portal, Forms,
Reports, and Discover.

7.2.1 Pre-requisites
 Microsoft Server 2008 R2 (64-bit).
 Static IP. (Note if you need to configure with DHCP please consult oracle documentation)
 Perform all Installation actions as Domain Service Account with administrator Privileges.

7.2.2 Configuration of Hosts file.

Due to an Oracle bug (Metalink DOC 1083385.1) it is necessary to configure the host file to force
the server to use IPV4 when pinging itself. This is done by adding the following lines to the host file,
which can be found in
<WINDOWS INSTALL LOCATION>\System32\drivers\etc
Add the following lines
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <servername>
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <servername>.<domain>

To verify your change, start a CMD prompt and ping <servername>. It should return an IPV4
address (e.g. 192.168.10.23) rather than an IPV6 address (fe80::f8da:2baf:f00a:b096%11)

7.2.3 Oracle JDK 6 update 24 or above

 Copy the downloaded Weblogic server jar file wls1034_generic.jar to a folder on the server it
is to be installed (make sure this location does not have any spaces in the directory
structure).
 Then run the Java install.
E.g. Java –jar C:\installs\WLS1034_generic.jar

 Click the Next button.

Issue 3 124
Oracle Components Installation Guide Oracle Fusion Middleware 11gR1

 Click the Create a new Middleware Home radio button.

 The default install location is C:\Oracle\Middleware. However, a limit on the length of
command line parameters can result in the classpath setting being too long and the installer
failing. Metalink / My Oracle Support note ID 1060058.1 specifies the limit as 2K under 32-bit
operating system. We have determined that the limit is 8K under 64-bit operating system. To
prevent this issue we recommend keeping the WLS install path to no more than 13
characters. E.g C:\Middleware.
 Click the Next button.

Issue 3 125
Oracle Components Installation Guide Oracle Fusion Middleware 11gR1

 Do NOT enter Metalink / My Oracle Support account details or register for security updates
at this stage. We have found that doing so often causes the installer to crash with an error
relating to MSVCR71.DLL. This problem has been documented by Oracle against Metalink /

9.2.1 Copy SQL*Net files

Copy your tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files from the database server to <Oracle

Be careful if editing these files. It may be necessary to add to them rather than overwrite them.
Your Oracle DBA should be able to help with this.
9.2.2 Edit SQLNET.ORA
Edit the file <Oracle Home>\Network\Admin\SQLNET.ORA and comment out (#) the line:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
Change the order of the NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH so that TNSNAMES is the first:

Oracle Components Installation Guide Modify system PATH for Oracle Fusion Middleware on Server 2008.

11 Modify system PATH for Oracle Fusion Middleware on

Server 2008.

This section explains how to modify the system PATH on a VPE Workbench Middle-Tier in order to
promote the position of the “Oracle Fusion Middleware Home” ahead of the “Oracle Client Home”.

This action is normally required after installing the Oracle Client on to the VPE Workbench 64-bit
Middle-Tier to ensure the correct Oracle binaries and SQLPATH are accessed.

In earlier versions of Oracle Application Server, the Oracle Universal Installer could be used to
modify the system PATH. The Oracle Universal Installer shipped with Oracle Fusion Middleware
does not include this facility. So the system PATH must be modified manually.

 Click Start-> Accessories->Command Prompt.

 Type: path to display the System PATH.
 Check the System PATH, if the Oracle Fusion Middleware Home is after the Oracle Client
Home then the System PATH should be modified as illustrated in the following steps.(Keep
this CMD window open for reference later).
