ABSTRACT

As we have prepared a light sensitive solar panel we have tried to increase the
efficiency of solar panels by rotating our solar panel in the direction of sun. We
know that if the rays coming from the sun directly fall on the solar panel then
the efficiency of solar panel will increase and we can get more output. We have
used this principle only in our model and we have rotated our motor in such a
way that it always try to align itself in front of sun.
We even made use of Audrino which reads the voltage from both the sides and
sends signal to motor driver to rotate the motor so as to balance the potential
difference of both the sides.
INTRODUCTION

LIGHT SENSITIVE SOLAR PANEL

 A solar panel which can rotate itself in such a direction where maximum
intensity of light is coming.
 It is capable of adjusting itself in the direction of sun just like the
sunflowers.
 It can help to increase the efficiency of solar panel very effectively as it
can capture maximum amount of sunlight.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:-

1.PULLEY

2.MOTOR
3.SOLAR PANELS AND
WIRES

4.AUDRINO
5.DC MOTOR

WORKING OF LIGHT SENSITIVE SOLAR PANEL:-

• The solar panels on the top are simply acting as sensors that provide
voltage to the motor when the sunlight hits them directly, basically the
two solar panels on the left would be wired so that the motor spins
clockwise whilst the right solar panels are wired into the same motor but
reversed. Basically whichever solar panel is providing the most voltage
(the ones pointed directly perpendicular to the sun) will power the motor
and overpower the other solar panels trying to move it in the other
direction.
BENEFITS

1. Light sensitive solar panels generate more electricity than their

stationary counterparts due to increased direct exposure to solar rays.
2. This increase can be as much as 10 to 30% .
3. With solar tracking we can extend the time of available maximum
power and thus produce with greater capacity more hours a day.
4. We have to use less number of solar panels to get the same output in
rotating solar panel.
5. Therefore, we are also able to minimize the space required to install
solar panels.
OUR PROCEDURE:-

Basically we are having 6 solar panels.

We have connected in such a way that it forms a V-shape.
We have connected 2 panels in series and another 2 panels also in series.
We have connected the two terminals of these 2 set of panels with the motor
which is connected with the base of our model which can rotate.
While connecting each of the two terminals we have connected one by one to
the motor but with opposite polarity.
So that when equal sunlight is falling on the solar panels both will cancel each
other’s output and the motor will not rotate but as the sun moves away 2 solar
panels will get more amount of sunlight and 2 will get less than both output
cannot cancel each other and there will be a resultant output which will drive
the motor in the front of sun.
The 2 solar panels facing towards the sun can be used to draw output current to
operate various appliances.
We even use Audrino to rotate panels. The panel with the more intensity of the
sun’s radiation sends more voltage to aurdino which in turn sends signal to the
controller .The motor controller rotates the motor in accordance with input
signals .

OBSERVATIONS

This data have been taken at different day-time

This data have been taken with artificial source of light
CONCLUSION

Thus we have concluded that we can increase the efficiency of solar panels with
our concept which will help us to maximize our output as we are able to get
direct rays of sun and thus increase the efficiency of the solar panel without any
sensor and with basic materials.
