BK supports education
The world’s fastest growing hamburger chain – Burger King con-
tinues to carry out its philanthropic obligations in the country.
The popular restaurant franchise which has been operating in Fiji
since 2015 has been working closely with the Foundation for the Edu-
cation of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC Fiji) since 2016 to support the
educational needs of deprived children across the country.
All the five Burger King outlets in Fiji carry donation boxes to sup-
port FENC Fiji raise funds for their various activities which includes
support to students in the form of scholarships covering basic school
supplies such as school uniforms, shoes, bags, books and stationeries
for primary and secondary school children.
Since 2016, Burger King has raised over $58,000 for FENC Fiji
through the generous donations received in the form of loose change
from its customers.
On Friday, June 21, the company handed over the latest collection
of $8,000 to FENC Fiji at its flagship restaurant in Martintar, Nadi.
“We are proud to have collected this money on behalf of FENC Fiji
which will be used to help educate children who come from impov-
erished backgrounds,” Burger King general manager Akash Narsey
said.
“Education is a key element in escaping poverty and we are dedi-
cated in doing our part in assisting FENC Fiji in doing their part for
the children of Fiji,” Mr Narsey added.
He also thanked all Burger King patrons who have donated gener-
ously towards a noble cause.
While accepting the donation, FENC Fiji financial controller Priya
Lata thanked the management and staff of Burger King for making a
difference in the society by partnering with the organisation in their
fundraising efforts.
“The donation and continued support from Burger King will go a
long way in assisting us to make education accessible to the poorest of
the poor children of Fiji enabling them to break the cycle of poverty
and become resourceful citizens of Fiji,” Ms Lata said.

the Fiji Cancer Society during the morning
tea event in Suva.

Uniting for a noble cause

The Motibhai Group Suva office in Walu Bay hosted its own
morning tea event on Wednesday, June 19 under the Bushells Fiji’s
Biggest Morning Tea (BFBMT) initiative which the company ex-
ecutes every year since 2006 as part of its major philanthropic ex-
ercise in partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society to raise funds for
cancer awareness, advocacy and patient care.
Now into its thirteenth year, the BFBMT continues to be the big-
gest and longest running fundraising event for the Fiji Cancer Soci-
ety and is held from June to September annually.
During this period, various business houses and NGOs from
across the country work closely with the Fiji Cancer Society to host
their own morning tea events and funds raised is directed towards
the society by the hosting organisations.
As charity begins at home, the Suva office tea event last month
turned out to be a great success with close to a hundred guests at-
tending the function and donating generously towards a worthy and
noble cause.
“We the Motibhai Group are very excited to host this morning
tea function which as you all know as the Bushells Fiji’s Biggest
Morning Tea in partnership with Fiji Cancer Society by putting the
first kettle in 2006 to fight against cancer,” Motibhai Group sales
supervisor Jean Whippy told guests.
“We are very confident that the humble contribution as part of
our corporate social responsibility will be a big reward to a patient’s
life,” Ms Whippy added.
“Raising awareness on cancer, in particular the importance of Fiji Cancer Society president Makrava Wilson with the New
