PYRAMUS AND THISBE

This is a tragic story that was very much like Romeo and Juliet. It was based on Edith Hamilton
book of mythology by the year 1942 that was published by the Hachette Book Group in 237 Park
Avenue, New York.
Unconditional love may be a word that would fit in the story of these two unbelievable young
lovers that no barrier would ever break their relationship, and no one can ever destroy a single piece
of their powerful love.
Pyramus and Thisbe is a story of love until death where they have shown their faithfulness that
in the end, they remain unseparated. It started when they were young, and they learned to love each
other until the time that they want to be married but their parents forbade them. The two families were
involved, and they were always quarrelling since the days that Pyramus and Thisbe were exchanging
words of love.
Tragic and love may be described from the story of two beloved characters and it seems that
the author wants to tell that love may last until death. I think that author wants to convey is the
purpose of love to someone that is very important in one’s life. Agreeing with the view of the author
can relate in today’s phenomenon.
Pyramus and Thisbe discovered a crack on the wall and through it they were able to whisper
sweetly back and forth. This passage was telling us that no barrier can ever separate these young
lovers. “Your own hand killed you,” she said, “and your love for me. I too can be brave. I too can love.
Only death would have had the power to separate us. It shall not have that power now.” A quote
showing an everlasting love, and a quote showing that love last a lifetime.
In love, no one can ever dictate you, fight for yourself and fight for whom you want to be with.
Things may not always be easy because it starts in a very difficult situation where we all suffer but, in
the end, we may feel better.
The author’s way of writing the story is in formal style because he used third person point of
view where he used characters to lighten up the flow of the scenarios of the story. I may think that this
is enough including the concepts and suitable for those who want to read but there may be
disappointments like if you read the part from the book of Hamilton, some areas from the story are not
clear but will satisfy a reader. The part that is somehow clear or we can say part of the story itself is
the love of the two characters and the one that is not indicated or having any background is the
quarrel of the two family where the reason is not defined. The information that was written in the story
is enough and the last part that looks like a farewell for the love that will never be separated again.
The book that Hamilton published was about Greek Mythology where gods and goddesses
were involved and the story of each one of them. The story of Pyramus and Thisbe is part of the book
that Hamilton had, and it may catch the feelings and the attention of the readers compared to those
novels with new different genres. As it compared to other books like Diary of a wimpy kid, Journey to
the Center of the Earth or other novels that is published by the time of 21th century, this is more on
love sacrifice and sometimes giving all is worth enough.
