CHAPTER II

JOURNAL WRITING

Weekly Report

The following table contains the task or activities that I have done during

my three hundred (300) hours On the Job Training at Telstra powered by

Teletech. Those activities include all the process to start our OJT and adjustment

to the workplace. They were assigned all the interns in different tasks. I had many

task that has been done during my internship.

INCLUSIVE DATE TASK/ACTIVITIES

January 14 – 19, 2019 We decided to start on January 14 at Telstra powered by

Teletech. In our first day, sir Carlson who handle us,

appointed us on different position. I appointed in front

desk which have the initial interview about their basic

information, there is also the tracker that incident the

basic information of the applicant and the taleo ID. One

of the intern teach me on how to make an interview. In

first time I feel nervous, then after 5 or more applicant I

handle it better. We were three to four intern in the front

desk. I also learn complete tracker by one of the interns

in the same day. I spend my whole day by interviewing

the applicant. In the next day, I already go to the front

desk because there are few applicant that will need to

7

have interview. I’m in front desk doing the same task

until 12:00pm. After we got a lunch, Ma’am Vionna ask

me to help her for filing the documents of the applicant

that has been hired. I spend filing documents until 5 pm.

In 3rd day I spend my whole day in the front desk doing

the same task by interviewing the applicants. In 4th day,

one of the interns teach me on how to make a phone

interview. I try it once, because it is so hard for a starter.

I try also the call out. In call out process, you will make

a call to someone that have a number to our system, then

we will ask a question if they are willing to apply in

Telstra-teletech. After I try some process, I go to the

front desk and do the same task until 5:00 pm. In 5th day

and 6th day, I spend my whole day in filing the

documents.

January 21 – 25, 2019 In January 21, Monday I'm in front desk doing the same

process at 7-12 pm. We are rotating with different task. I

appointed to MPD process which assist applicant in their

online examination. In January 22 -25, I do the same

task in MPD.

January 28 – February In January 28 – 29 I’m in front desk whole day and

2, 2019
8

sometimes Ms. Vionna and Sir Carl were give me a

task to call the applicant about their medical and their

clearances. In next day, I’m in front desk in the morning

and in the afternoon. I’m in HP doing MPD process. In

next days I have alternate task sometimes I’m in front

desk and in HP.

February 4 – 9, 2019 In February 4, Monday I’m in HP whole day doing

MPD process which assist the applicant to their

examination and some applicant need chat assessment

for chat support position. I am the one who assist them

in their assessment and I’ll give them instructions about

what will they do. In Wednesday and Thursday, we were

only 4 interns. My task in those days are in front desk

doing incoding or tracking the basic information of the

applicant. In Friday, I’m in HP whole day. Then before

we go out Ma'am Tin, our boss, ask to me to be there

tomorrow to have two interns.

February 11, 2019 In February 11, Monday, I’m in HP wholeday. Then in

the same day, Christian Perez called me about our

feasibility. He said that our feasib was been check by

our grammarian and we edit that as soon as possible. I

decided to out early to go back in Sariaya until Saturday.

9

February 18 – 23, In February 18 to 19 I’m in front HP or testing area

2019
whole day. I’m also give feedback who had been passed

or failed with their overall assessment. In next days until

Friday, I’m in front desk doing the tracking or incoding.

Sometimes I've got a hard time to incode the applicant's

papers because the other applicants make a question to

me and I need to answer that. I encountered also a

problem on the tracker and I need to call a TA(talent

Acquisition) to settled the problem. The problem not

settled early so I need to incode again some papers.

February 25 – March In February 25 Monday, the day of Edsa Revolution,

2, 2019
there are applicant’s but not as many as the other day.

Im do the tracking of personal information of the

applicants. I’m also gave feedback about the result of

their final interview. In next days, Tuesday to Thursday,

I did the same tasks. Then in Friday task was

interviewing the applicants about the basic information

we need. Then after cut off we need to kill all the passed

and failed about their assessments. In kill process, I will

search the name in taleo ID and incode if they passed or

failed. And in Saturday, I’m doing multiple task, the

10

interview, the tracker and the MPD process because one

of my colleagues got sick and I need assist him to what

he is doing.

March 4 – March 5, In our last week, we have 2 days left. In my two days

2019 left I'm in front desk doing the encoding/tracking.

Problems Encountered and Solutions

Problems can encounter all the time and you need to be ready and give alternative

solutions for that. In my internship during 2 months, I face a lot of problems and OJT

problems.

First problem I encountered is waking up early. Sometimes me and my

friends/classmates are not waking up early and it cause to being late. Some of my friends

are not waking up early so I need to adjust myself. I set my alarm every morning and I’m

in the first one who took a bath. Second problem I encountered is financial problem. My

expenses every day is very large. The company that I had my internship doesn’t have

allowance for the interns so it couldn’t support my budget. All of my expenses were

come from food in everyday meal and transportation. To avoid more expenses, I budget

my money for every week. It helps but not as alternative solutions.

In workplace I encountered some of problems. First problem I encountered in workplace

is on PC problem. The PC got hang and some of data that I incode got deleted. I call one

of the talent acquisition to settle the problem. It takes long and it’s not settled after. The
11

only solution for that is to retype again and I’m the one who responsible for that. The

next problem I encounter is lost connection in online examination. After taking some

basic information of applicant in front desk, the next process were online examination.

The online examination is not ready so we proceed to take them on initial/preliminary

interview. If the connection is ready we need to take them in online examination after.

The last problem I encountered is having an issue between the two talent acquisitions.

One of them is the one who handle us. We are close enough to the other one, so it made

the one who handle us been cold to us. That issue also affected us.

Insight Gained

This includes the knowledge, skills and attitude and values that I acquired and

developed in the workplace at Telstra Powered by Teletech.

Knowledge

 I got a lot of knowledge in the workplace. I got knowledge about all the process

of hiring/recruiting in BPO company. It composed of taking the basic information

of the applicant by interviewing, online examination, preliminary interview, final

interview and medical examination.

 Telstra Powered by Teletech is taking for an applicant with good attitude. They

are accepting also an applicant even they don’t have call center experience before

or in other industry. Being confident and being ready for the position you are

applying is what the recruiters are looking for.

12

 Most of the applicant failed because of their poor communication skills, attrition

risk, not ready for the interview, shirt answered, failed interview, and etc..

 I got knowledge about how the process and some interview questions can I

encounter in the future when I apply in BPO company or other industry.

Skills

 My typing skills, personality, and communications skills developed.

Values/Attitude

 Good attitude

 Organize social world

 Equality

 Competitiveness

 Wisdom

Suggestion/Recommendation

As a former intern at Telstra Powered by Teletech, I got a lot of knowledge in this

company. I recommend to the future OJT that they should choose best company that can

help develop find their skills and knowledge. One the best company is Telstra Powered

by Teletech. They can have an internship in this company if they want and apply in the

Telstra building ground floor located at Five E-com SM Mall of Asia.

Land Bank of the Philippines stylized as LANDBANK or also known by its

initials, LBP, is a universal bank in the Philippines owned by the Philippine government

with a special focus on serving the needs of farmers and fishermen. While it provides the

services of a universal bank, it is officially classified as a "specialized government bank"

with a universal banking license.

LANDBANK is the fourth largest bank in the Philippines in terms of assets and is

the largest government-owned bank. It is also one of the biggest government owned and

In 2015, it planned to merge with DBP but it did not push through.

On February 4, 2016, President Benigno Aquino III approved the Executive Order #198

on the merger between Land Bank and the DBP, with the former as the surviving entity.
16

LANDBANK was established on August 8, 1963 as part of the Agricultural Land

Reform Code as part of a program of land reform in the Philippines. It was to help with

the purchase of agricultural estates for division and resale to small landholders and the

purchase of land by the agricultural lessee. In 1965, LANDBANK's by-laws were

approved and its first board of trustees was formed, with the Secretary of Finance as

Chairman.
