Corrosion KING HBE - Black for Water Area


RUST STABILISING PRIMER (TWO PACK EPOXY- HBE)

DESCRIPTION A two-component epoxy, glass reinforced, rust stabilising primer.

PRODUCT * High build, solvent-less product with excellent abrasion resistance.


FEATURES AND * Can be used as a single product system, Ideal for general maintenance.
USES * Moisture tolerant - can be applied to damp surfaces.
* Ideal for use in aggressive and tidal environments.
* Able to withstand ±180ºC
* Able to apply on concrete and all tidal ferrous metal.

TECHNICAL DATA

Volume solids(+2%) 86% Specific Gravity: 1.55 kg/ Litre (mixed material)

Film Thickness Wet Film 210 microns. Dry Film 200 microns.

Mixing Ratio 1:1 by volume (base to hardener)

Theoretical Coverage 4.3 m / liter at 200 microns dry film thickness. Practical coverage rate can vary depending on application method,
temperature, profile and porosity of the substrate.

Pot Life (at 30 Celsius) 30 Minutes

Colour Black (Note: Corrosion KING HBE base is grey and the hardener is black or grey, giving a black or grey finish
when mixed, will chalk on exterior exposure).

Storage Storage life 24 months when stored in original containers in dry, cool conditions between 15 and 30 Celsius.

APPLICATION DETAILS

Surface preparation If required, due to obvious dirt / grease contamination or suspected salt or chemical contamination, clean
all surfaces with a water soluble degreaser, perfer to use Bio degreaser to wash down with clean, fresh water
and allow to dry, before commencing main preparation. (Sa1, Sa2.5, ST2 & ST3)

Recommended Substrate Steel. (Corrosion KING HBE can also be applied to Concrete and other substrates - further advice available on request).
New Steel: All mill scale must be removed prior to application.

All surfaces when coated should be firm, clean, dry and free from oil, grease, powdery flash rusting and
other contamination.

Airless Spray To achieve the recommended working pressure requires the use of 63:1 Graco King airless unit. Apply using
a heater block at 35 - 40 Celsius (Setting No.3). OR add 5% Corrosion KING Thinners No.6. The product can also be
applied using plural component spray equipment. For details contact Corrosion KING.

Brushing / Rollering When brushing, apply unthinned, lay on, do not over brush. When rollering, use lambs wool roller and a
maximum addition of 5% Corrosion KING Thinners No.6.

Mixing Mix each component separately prior to thoroughly mixing together for 2 to 3 minutes at medium speed. Always
use a mechanical agitator. Ensure product is used only in the proportions recommended.

Application Temperature Range 25 - 40 Celsius

Stripe coating Stripe coat all edges, nuts, bolts, welds etc.

Ambient Condition Only apply in conditions of good ventilation, which should be maintained during drying. Do not apply when rain, mist,
sleet or snow are imminent. During application and drying time the Relative Humidity should not exceed 90% and
the steel temperature should remain at least 3 Celsius above the dew point.

Overcoating Overcoatable with itself and selected Corrosion KING intermediate and topcoat - contact Corrosion KING Technical
desk for advice. If overcoating time exceeds 24 hours and contamination has occurred, clean using a detergent
solution and fresh water rinse and allow to dry before continuing. If maximum overcoating times are exceeded,
abrade the surface to provide a key, wash down with clean fresh water and allow to dry.

Flash Point Above 55 Celsius.
