    A. Do you support the policy banning cell phone use on public places?

    Write a
    letter to the mayor explaining your opinion. Begin your letter, “Dear Mayor.”
    (150-180 words)

     Phones can disturb others when they are concentrating, for example in a library.
     They are antisocial as people are too busy sending messages to talk to the people in
    front of them, for example in a shop when they are being served.
     The signal can cause problems in some public places, such as hospitals, by interfering
    (παρεμβαίνω) with delicate (ευαίσθητος) instruments or equipment.
     In some public place, such as libraries, music halls or galleries, phones can annoy and
    ruin the experience for others.
     Phones can be intrusive. (γίνομαι ενοχλητικός)

    But on the other hand

     Mobiles do not need to be intrusive as they can easily be turned to silent or vibrate.
     Phones can be useful in case of emergencies, for instance accidents in public places.
     Phones can provide entertainment when travelling on tedious (ανιαρός) journeys.
     Phones are multi-functional and can be used as recording devices or cameras so
    shouldn’t be banned in public.
     They provide a safety for youngsters as parents can easily get in touch with them
    wherever they are.

    B. If you could drive your own car or take public transportation to get to your school or
    workplace, which would you choose? What factors would affect your decision? Give
    details to explain your choice.

    Pros and cons of public transportation


     Using public transportation is good for the environment as you’re emitting less pollution
    into the air.
     Buses can delay, so plan on getting an hour early to your destination in preparation for
    delays.
     Most public transportation fares are cheaper than driving your car across town.
     Public transport promotes equality, because it enables people who can’t drive / can’t
    afford a car to get around.
     Public transportation can convey (μεταφέρω) many more people in much less space
    than individual automobiles, which helps to keep traffic congestion lower, which in turn
    reduces air pollution and helps riders avoid the stress.
     Taking the bus, train, light rail, or other transit options is safer than driving a car.
     Having a car give you an absolute freedom on deciding the schedule and roads to reach
    their destination.
     In a car, a person does not have to worry about the dust, noise and fumes present in the
    road while in public transportation it is not always possible to avoid those.
