1. INTRODUCTION
According to oxford dictionary, innovation means the recognition of new things, ideas or ways
of doing something. Innovation defined in general by Desai (2013) as an activity to act out of
the mainstream and create something new. Particularly in business, Kuczmarski (1996) define
innovation as a broad attitude that encourage business to breakthrough the limit and create
a future vision to increase revenues, stock price, employee and customer satisfaction and to
be able to compete globally. So, innovation trend refers to an activity in creating something
new to enhance the business on the certain moment of a particular field (Kim et al, 2015; Yu
et al, 2011). Now days, businesses are encouraged to be innovative in every particular
operations in order to remain operating in the market. The more massive their production
and the wider their market, the more innovation strategy they should have. In order to build
an innovation, the foundation of it is creating the strategy—innovative strategy. Desai (2013)
again mentioned that the definition of innovation strategy is a strategize expression describes
business’ innovations that require a dedicated and regulated execution process to increase
the growth of the business.
This report deconstructs the innovation that is conducted by Amazon—an e-commerce
company in terms of its delivery system, where Amazon has launched their drone-based
delivery service to send items from their warehouse to customers’ house.
1.1. Background
Amazon was first founded in the 1994 by Jeff Bezos as an online book store. It rapidly begun
adding their product with DVDs, music, video games, electronics, and clothing. Now, It has
transformed into a huge e-commerce company. Amazon put its self as a customer-oriented
company. They hold that principle while a failure will come once they stop listening to
customer (Schneider, 2019). As an information and technology-based company, Amazon
keep upgrading itself aligned with the change of technology era-current technology trend.
