between every two consecutive terms and it is made by

Find the 27th term of the arithmetic sequence of 5, 8, 11,

60 = a1 + 7d, then substitute d = -3
60 = a1 + 7(-3)
60 = a1 – 21
81 = a1
Therefore, we have 81 = a1 and -3 = d. By using

this, we can now solve for the 40th term.
Now, we can substitute this to the general equation, -36 ma’am

a 40 =81+ ( 40−1 ) d
a 40 =81+39 (−3 )
a 40 =81−117
a 40 =?
Very good. Therefore, the 40th term for the arithmetic

sequence is -36.
