Literature and Food!


Jane Eyre is a novel by Charlotte Brontë,
one of the most famous works from
the Bronte sisters. It shows the coming
of age of a young woman, who has a
difficult childhood.
In Jane’s early years, her parents died
and then she is sent to boarding school
where the headmaster mistreats her. To
Jane, who has been forced to eat scraps
for much of her life, the food symbolizes
kindness and the chance that her life may become better.

Seed Cakes
Seed cakes are traditional British cakes flavoured with caraway seeds. They
were originally caraway seed biscuits, which then evolved into seed cakes.
Enjoy these seed cakes with a cup of tea or as a snack.
