7 WONDERS OF WORLD
INTRODUCTION
It is very pleasing for us, to put to your consideration the present monographic research
work entitled "THE WONDERS OF THE WORLD".
The architectural and monumental gems that have been erected by man throughout
history remain in the imagination of any portal for centuries. And it is inevitable to not
surrender to the charm that radiates. The exceptional beauty that still preserve all these
patrimonial treasures in the eyes of any traveler, have been worth to be considered as
the new 7 wonders of the modern world.
GREAT WALL OF CHINA
The great Wall of china was originally built as a defence in order to protect the borders
of Qi,yan and zhao states.
It wasn’t built within one time period,it was completed over a matter of centuries. It
generally agreed that the earliest constructions began during the 7 th century BC.
It was built using various types of material including brick Stone gravel,tiles,lime earth
and Wood.
Its stretches cross approximately 8,852 kms (5,500 miles)of land.
The great Wall of china is such a gigantic manmade structure that it is clearly visible from
space!.
2.PETRA
The ancient city of petra is situated in wadi Musa,Petra, Ma´an in Jordan;located on the
crossroads between Arabia,Egypt and Syria – Phoenicia.
Because of the beutiful red rock whinch forms the city, it is sometimes referred to as
“the rose city”.
Petra is an ancient archaeological site steeped in centuries of history, styles and
designs from various nations including the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians – all of
whom have left their legacy within the walls of petra.
Many buildings were destroyed and the water conduit system was damaged during an
earthquake which ocurred in 383 AD.
3. CHRIST THA REDEEMER

Christ the Redeemer is a humungous statue located in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil
overlooking the city.
The huge statue of chirst is located at the peak of the corcovado Mountain in the Tijuca
Forest National Park .the peak of the mountain is 700 metres high.
Between the years 1931 – 2010 , Christ the Redeemer was considered the World´s
biggest Art Deco statue .
The religious statue of christ the Redeemer is a huge fourist attractuin in Brazil where
many people visit to pray and worship jesus christ.
The height of the christ the Redeemer statue is aproximately 38 meters tall including its
pedestal.
4.MACHU PICCHU.
Machu Picchu is located in Peru , which was formally known as Cusco,between the two
summits of Machu picchu and Huayna Picchu.
Sometimes Machu Picchu is known by the name the lost city of the Incas´ because it
remained lost for many years.
It is a city which was built by the Incan people who belonged to the largest empire in
pre-columbian America. This majestic city is a reminder of their great achievements.
It is believed that the city of Machu Picchu was built in approximately 1450 AD at the
height of the Incan Empire.
The site of Machu Picchu was built very high up in a mountainous área , in a dense
Peruvian rainforest . the city lies approximately 2430 meters above sea level.
5. CHICHEN ITZA
Chichen itza is a famous archaeological site located in the Mexican state of yucatan in
tinum.
The historical site of chichen itza was built by the Mayan people the Maya Era was
around AD 250 to 900 , this period was before the Aztec Era;around 14th to 16th
century.
The meaning of the name chichen itza is at the mouth of the well of the Itza.
The city of chichen itza was built on rough terrain covering an área of 5 square
kilometers or more .the área had to be manually levelled off before construction work
could begin.
6. COLOSSEUM
The colosseum is an architectural wonder which was built in the city of Rome , Italy.
Construction of emperors . It was completed around a decade later when titus was in
power.
The colosseum is known as the colosseo in Italian.this structural wonder is also known
as the Flavian Amphitheatre.
The original structure of the colosseum was 156 meters wide and 189 meters long. The
building stood at 48 meters tall the circumference of the structure was 545 meters.
The colosseum centre is the área where the drmatic sporting events took place, It
measured 83 meters x 43 meters the clever construction allowed this área to flood with
water to créate sea battles.
7 TAJ MAHAL
The taj Mahal was built by the emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife
Moumtaz Mahal.
The Taj Mahal is one of the most famous buildings in the world and it is located in
Agra, Uttar Pradesh which is in the north of India.
The building’s architecture is very special as it is a fine formof Mughal architecture
whinch combines different Indian , Islamic and Persian designs.
The Taj Mahal was constructed during the mid- 17th century approximately during the
years of 1632 to 1653.
The taj mahal dirives from the Arabic phrase Crown of palaces the tal mahal building is
crowned with a fabulous dome shape structure which is perfectly proportioned.
