Fractured Fairy Tale ~ Hansel and Gretel
Once upon time there lived a witch, she wasn’t the prettiest or the smartest but
she was the nicest person you can meet. She loved life and enjoyed everything the earth had to
offer. However, there was one thing missing from her life. She wished to have a husband she can
love and can love her back. She wished to be married and have children of her own, she wanted
to have a family; so she wouldn’t be so lonely during the day. One day as she was cleaning her
house she started to think “maybe it is the type of lifestyle I live, maybe I need a new setting”.
Her thoughts became actions and she packed up her belongings and moved deep within the
woods.
“What is one thing children seem to love?”, “I got it “, she worked for weeks at
a time. From dawn to dust she worked and worked until she finally was able to finish. There was
door, walls, even the roof made from grand-crackers. M&M door knops, curtains were made
from sour straws, showers were filled with sugar. Every child’s dream home. The little old witch
was quite proud of herself for accomplishing her goal. From her little candy house, she can see
the castle where a king and greedy queen rained. One day as the witch was fixing her garden she
overheard two people arguing. As she got closer she realized it was king and queen arguing
about their children. The queen had explained the children were bratty and annoying and they did
not deserve to be a part of the royal family and one-day rule. The king explained he would do
anything to make his wife happy. The witch could not believe, “How can they not want their
children?”. The very next day she heard the voice of a young girl and a teenage boy playing. She

quick jumped out from behind the bushes to say hello. Having her looks the children were
frighten, and tried going back to the carriage where their parents were; however they had
vanished. The children began to weep for their parents. The witch tried to comfort them but then
again they were frighten and ran from her. Witches were known to be mean, evil, and live in
The little princess and the prince had been walking all day and night trying to find
their way out of the forest however they could not seem to. The little princess had gotten weak
and tired so her big brother, the prince picked her up and threw her over his shoulder, but after a
while he got weak and tired as well. After a couple of days, they came across the sugar home the
witch had built. He went inside and seen the gumdrop bed and placed his sister on it and began to
check the house. When we went upstairs he seen the witch and screamed. The witch screamed as
well and ran behind the curtain and the boy realized the witch was just as scared as he was. Her
stood up and asked for the witch’s name and asked if she was harmless. “of course I’m
harmless” “are you hungry” and before the prince even replied she grabbed his wrist and lead
him to the kitchen. “Cookies, candy, and sweet bread oh my!”. Soon after the prince grubbed and
grubbed his little sister soon awoke. After the two children were finished eating the witch ask
what they were doing in the middle of the woods. The children explained the got left there. After
a few days the prince asked the witch if it was okay to go outside, the witch had explained the
outside world was filled with dangerous animals and angry people he must remain indoors where
it is safe. It was getting late so the prince headed off to bed, the princess however helped the little
witch clean up. “You know witch you’re not ugly, you actually can be really pretty if fixed your
teeth, hair, and cut off that big mole on your nose” said the princess. The witch was amazed that
she had gotten called pretty. “can you help me?” the witch replied. Jumping for joy the princess

grabbed the witch and lead her to the bathroom, they had stood up all night giving the witch a
makeover. At dawn the prince awoken to help prepare breakfast, when he walked downstairs he
was speechless he couldn’t believe how beautiful she was. A few hours later they all sat down at
the table eating their breakfast when, a knock on the door interrupted their conversation. It was
the king. When the witch opened the door he was mesmerized by her, even speechless for a
minute or two, until his daughter ran to him with open arms. “you’ve watched over my
children?” the king asked. “I did” said the witch. The children were so thrilled to see their father
again. “Would you want to join us for some breakfast?” asked the little witch. “Sure” the king
