Summary of Ecclesiastes:

Chapter Main Point

Nothing we do changes the fact that
1:1-11 we labor and toil and then die, and
the earth caries on as before.
If we deny the reality of our death,
we will try to turn God’s gifts into
1:12 – 2:26 stepping stones for meaning and
purpose and we will fail to enjoy
them.
God has appointed a time for
3:1-15 everything and He does it so that we
will come to fear him.
Fear God by listening and obeying.
5:1-7

Death is able to teach us how to live

wisely but we need to realize that
7:1-14 even being wise will not tell us
everything we want to know.

Considering the certainty of death

9:1-12 and uncertainty of life, enjoy the
blessings given by God.
Enjoy God’s creation in your youth
11:7 – 12:8 knowing the reality of old age.

Remember our creator God through

12:9-14 fearing Him and obeying his
commandments, for He will bring
everything under His judgement at
the end.
