1. What is the TOEFL ITP It is an international exam of
Level 1? English.

2. What levels is it for? From Intermediate to Advanced


(B1 – C1 based on the Common
European Framework)

3. What is it for? It certifies the candidate’s English


level and it is accepted by most public
and private universities in Peru.

Test Format
• You will take a written test (paper-and-pencil).
• You will find 140 multiple-choice questions divided in
three major sections:

Section 1: Listening
In this section of the test, you will show your ability to
understand spoken English. This section has 3 parts.

PART 1
Short conversations between two people.

PART 2
Longer conversations.

PART 3
Several talks.

If possible, read the alternatives before you listen.

conversations and questions will not be repeated.

• Focus on the content and flow of spoken


material.
• Anticipate what a person is going to say as
a way to stay focused.
• Stay active by asking yourself questions
(for example, what main idea is the
professor communicating?)
• Listen for words that show connections
and relationships between ideas.

Each sentence has four highlighted words or phrases. The four
highlighted parts of the sentence are marked A, B, C, and D. Identify
the one highlighted word or phrase that must be changed in order
for the sentence to be correct.

Pay attention to the information that comes before and after


the word or phrase. It may give you hints of what word class is
needed (a noun, an adjective, a past participle?)

General Study Tips for Grammar
• Review your grammar charts.
• Focus on the form such as type of grammatical words
(nouns, verbs, etc.), plural and singular forms, tense,
auxiliary verbs, and word order among other
grammatical aspects.
• Also focus on the use and meaning of a given
language item. Make sure the choice of words is
correct.
• Pay attention to the sequence of tenses when
dealing with structures such as conditionals or time
clauses.
• Practice on your own and time yourself. Remember
you only have 40 minutes.

In this section of the test, you will show your ability
to read and understand short passages on
academic subjects.
