Resident evil afterlife.

She’s back...And she's bringing a few of her friends.

The movie which created high expectations, a movie that should blow me away .Resident
evil afterlife is based on the video game resident evil 5. A zombie killing horror game with
graphics that will make you sleep a little less at night. For all the people who played the
game it was only a bonus that there was a fourth resident evil movie based on it, but for all
the non-gamers this was the fourth layer of pure action and horror.

In this part Alice (the main character) searches for survivors of the t-virus and bring them to
a save spot free of zombies. On the radio there is a broadcast that there is a spot of that
sort, arcadia. But Alice finds more than what she is searching for…

The movie is directed by Paul W.S Anderson, who directed and wrote the previous parts
also. The movie is about the T-virus that has escaped; the umbrella corporation who made
the T-virus is experimenting on people. The T-virus (tyrant virus) is a biological weapon what
turns the death in to living people. After you die or are bitten you turn in to a human eating
zombie. It revives the death cells in your body and was originally made for people who can’t
walk or use a body part anymore, but it had other side effects. To neutralize the t-virus you
need an antidote, but there wasn’t enough to cure everybody before the whole city,
country, and world was infected.

The movie is more action than horror, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. The story
is built up in a good level. It starts with something that scares you that already gives the vibe
of “you know that everybody is going to die now right?” Then it goes on to straight action
that blows your mind. The only problem is, if you haven’t seen the previous movies, you
don’t know that Alice has been infected and that she has been infected and experimented
on. She was the only successful experiment; the other ones mutated in some kind of way, for
example Nemesis. In part one that hive (bijenkorf translated into Dutch) is infected, because
someone let the virus loose. The hive is one of the (underground) facilities of the umbrella
corporation. Alice and a cop (matt Addison) are taken with a Special Forces team into the
underground facility, where the zombies are. If they aren’t out in time the whole building
will be shut of due contamination. Alice had lost her memory so she doesn’t remember how
the virus got loose. The red queen controls the hive and determines if everyone can come
out or not. After the virus got loose the red queen sealed the whole place so no employee
could come out, then she had send a gas to the house above the hive where Alice was and
that is how she got her memory loss. They had to search for the red queen and temporary
shut her down. When they found where the queen was, few of the Special Forces went into
a hall and the defense system of the red queen was activated. She locked a few of them in
and with lasers she statically killed them. After the doors opened again they disabled her.

There was no way out that they knew, so they active the red queen en threatened her that if
she tried something that they would fry her. She said that they had to go through the sewer
and they did that. They where crawling on the pipes because the zombies found themselves
a way in the sewer. But then the pipes broke and they had to leave someone behind. You
heard a gunshot and everybody thought that he had killed himself, but he had shot a zombie
that was trying to bite him. There were three people left and they were locked in a room,
because they were looking for the antivirus, because someone of the Special Forces was
bitten. When they were in the room, the guy who also lost his memory got his memory
back. He was the one who released the virus and thought that Alice wanted this all to
happen. The red queen was still activated and wanted that the person who was infected
would be killed before everybody could proceed to the exit, but nobody wanted that, but
miracle above miracle the guy who they left behind came back and shut down the red queen
so that they could leave. After they had fought
with a special kind of zombie and the person
who was infected mutated, Alice and the fake
cop, Matt Addison got back into the house just in
time. But then
the doors opened and they were captivated by
the umbrella corporation so that they could
experiment on them. That was the end of part
one,
it obviously was clear that there was a sequel to
this movie

Resident evil apocalypse is the second

movie. After the hive was sealed, they
opened it again and all the zombies and
lickers (a kind of zombie) escaped. And
soon the whole city is infected. Alice
wakes up in an abandoned hospital and
she notices the whole city is infected.
She walked down the street and took a shotgun out of car. During the evacuation of the
civilians at the only bridge leading out of the city by the umbrella corporation police officer
Jill Valentine meets with her friend Sergeant Peyton Welles. The t-virus begins to effect
people at the checkpoint out of the city and Peyton is bitten by a Zombie. Umbrella’s
supervisor orders to seal the exit so that nobody can come out. Three umbrella soldiers link
up with a Special Tactics and rescue squad units to hold against a whole street filled with
zombies, but they cannot contain the situation and one of the umbrella soldiers is bitten and
they are forced to fall back. In the meanwhile Jill, Peyton and a news weather lady named
Terri locked themselves in a church filled with lickers. Alice saves them at the last minute
with great fire power.

Umbrella soon releases the Nemesis program to kill S.T.A.R.S operatives and as many
zombies as possible. When he finds L.J and thirteen members of S.T.A.R.S who are firing at
him he kills all of them except L.J because he drops his gone, so he isn’t a threat anymore.
Dr. Charles Ashford who is a scientist and the developer of the T-virus doesn’t want to be
evacuated until his daughter is rescued, who is hiding in her school. He gets in touch with
Alice and her team and says that the Umbrella Corporation is going to nuke Raccoon city so
the virus is contained.

They make a deal with each other, Alice saves his daughter and they would be evacuated
before the city was destroyed. Nemesis finds them and kills Peyton. Alice is separated from
the group and Jill and Terri are going to the school to safe the scientist’s daughter. On the
way they pick up L.J and they encounter the three umbrella soldiers who had the same deal.
The school is filled with infected children and dogs which kill one of the umbrella soldiers
and Terri. Alice once again comes to the rescue and saves the group and the daughter from
death.

The scientist gives the location of the extraction point to Alice. But when they were they
Major Cain was intervening. He killed the scientist (the father) and forced Alice to fight
against Nemesis. After she had defeated Nemesis she found out it was her (former) friend
Matt Addison who was captured with her at the end of the first movie. She refuses to give
the final blow and Nemesis regains his humanity, because he remembered her. Together
they fought against the umbrella troops, but Nemesis was killed, because he helped Alice
and the others escape in a helicopter. Meanwhile the zombies found a way to enter the
building where they were. They found a way to the top and while the helicopter flew away
you saw Major Cain left for dead, he was been eaten alive by zombies and the city was
nuked. The helicopter was caught up in the blast and it crashes into the mountains. Alice was
impaled by a metal pool from the helicopter. Umbrella Corporation comes looking for them,
but they only find Alice. She is been taken to the Detroit Umbrella research facility. After a
few weeks she wakes up in a water tank recovering from her injuries. It seems that she had
lost her memory again, because she doesn’t answer to any of their questions, but then she
says “My name is Alice and I remember everything”. She breaks out of the facility and her
teams which she had escaped with previously, comes up in a car with them dressed up in
Umbrella uniforms and take her away. Alice enters the vehicle and the daughter of the
scientist asks if she is okay, but she doesn’t respond. Dr Isaacs back in the facility says” let
them go… Program Alice Activated”. As they drive away you see a close up from Alice her
eyes with the Umbrella logo in them.

Resident evil extinction is the third part of the tetra logy (4 parts). The film starts with
showing a clown of Alice waking up at the mansion in a scene that is almost identical to the
scene in the first resident evil movie. Alice moves through obstacles including the laser room
where the red queen had killed a few of the Special Forces team (also the first movie). She
eventually is killed by a weapon system of Umbrella. Her death body is taken by three
scientist including Dr. Isaacs and is dumped in a pit outside the umbrella facility where there
are a lot of Alice clones. When the camera zooms out you see that hundreds of zombies are
trying to enter the facility that has been surrounded by barbed wire fence.

We move five years into the future since the movie resident evil apocalypse. Alice is alone in
the desert of the United States. She now had super human strengths and is a danger to the
umbrella corporation. Dr Isaacs wants to recapture her, because she is the only one who
survived the experiments without fully mutating. She is the cure to this all.

Meanwhile Claire Redfield’s convoy arrives with all Alice’s fellow survivors of Raccoon city
and new survivors, K-mart, Mikey, Chase and Nurse Betty in the dessert. They were
searching for supplies in a small hotel, but L.J is bitten. In the morning they are being
attacked by crows and they kill Nurse Betty and damaging the operator of the pintle-
mounted-flamethrower which fires out of control. Alice comes to their rescue; with her mind
she lets the flamethrower fire in the sky so that the infected crows die. Alice is introduced to
Clair and she gives her a diary with the information that there is a place in Alaska where
there are no infected. They convince each other to go to Alaska and some of the survivors
are headed to Las Vegas to obtain supplies for the journey to Alaska.

Dr. Isaacs’s experiments to domesticate the infected have led to a new breed (crimson
head). Slater his subordinate thinks that dr.Isaacs experiments are not safe, but after
dr.Isaacs explains himself they agree that this new breed can be of great use for the re-
capturing of project Alice. Still Slater thinks that Isaacs is out of control.

The umbrella corporation was able to find Alice’s location due her use of her powers. Against
the orders of chairman
Wesker’s the new breed of
zombies was released to get
Alice back. Carlos becomes
infected by L.J and most of the
convoy is killed by the battle.
They tried to take control of
Alice again, but she breaks free and fights on. She spotted dr.Isaacs, who was infected by a
Crimson head attempting to flee. Alice and K-Mart enter the umbrella tent and use Isaacs’s
computer to track down the flight path of the helicopter and due that learning about
umbrella’s location underground.

The convoys of survivors find the location of the Las Vegas facility of umbrella. It is
surrounded by hundreds of zombies. Carlos who was infected and has gone beyond a cure
sacrifices himself by planting a dynamite charge on him as he goes through the facility. While
doing this he gives everyone else the chance to escape with the helicopter. Alice stays
behind and is going to finish the mission…

Dr. Isaacs has locked himself in his lab, injecting himself with massive doses of Anti-Virus
hoping that it would counter attack the T-virus. Slater has been giving the order from Wesker
to kill Isaacs. When Slater shoots him, Isaacs mutates into a tyrant. He completely lost his
mind and is killing every employee in the facility. The white Queen manages him to lock Isaac
in the lower levels of the lab.

When Alice enters the facility she meets a holographic representation of the White Queen
(the Red Queen’s sister). The White Queen tells Alice that she is the cure to the virus and
informs her about Isaacs who is destroying everything. Alice agrees to deal with him, but on
her way to the lower levels she finds a clone of herself. The clone wakes up, but it looks like
it died from shock. The room turns into a replica of the laser corridor of the hive in the first
movie. Alice and Isaacs are fighting and the lasers activate and it slices Isaacs into pieces.
Just as the lasers are about to do the same to her, her clone wakes up and deactivates the
lasers.

Later, in Tokyo, Wesker informs the rest of the Umbrella board that the North American
branch has been lost, and he will now control further scientific experimentation from Japan.
Suddenly, Alice makes an appearance at the board meeting from the North American facility,
declaring that she and her friends are coming for them now. Standing beside the clone of
herself, Alice looks onto the rows of pods containing other clones who are awakening.

Film review from the guardian

The fourth Resident Evil movie has 3D as its main selling point, and without doubt the 3D is of a very
high quality. There are plenty of visually impressive scenes, with planes skimming over glaciers or
examining the inside of huge, expansive white hangars. But as we have come to expect from this
series, and this director, the films always look good and have well-staged action, but they don't have
one iota of originality or imagination – to the extent of virtually recreating key scenes from The
Matrix, Die Hard and The Descent. It matters not, though; if you've seen the previous three RE films,
you'll know not to expect any surprises. Milla Jovovich is relaxed and at ease in her role; another
dozen or so Resident Evil films and she might even be quite good.

My review
I must say, this was a movie experience that was absolutely amazing. It had the perfect balance
between scaring the crowd and entertaining it with full time action. The whole experience was great
and I must give some credits to the movie theater, because the 3D glasses weren’t annoying at all
and that also gives something more to the movie, it makes you enjoy it more.

 Music.
They have used it very well to make a moment of pure action sound like this is a clash
between titans. If only in real life such great music would be played when people fought like
that. It was amazing the way the used it to create a very scary vibe.
 Camera work.
It was never too dark to see what was going on and I must say that is a really hard thing to
do. For example when they filmed in a kind of tunnel it is hard to give it a lot of light, because
that gives away the illusion of that there is only one way out. So they found a great balance.
They also made a great use of close ups till very wide shots to show what was going on.
 Acting.
A movie is 50% acting and 50% other technical stuff. There is no way that you could say that
this was made out of horrible acting skills. They had chosen a great set of actors (including
ones that have played in the previous parts). Their credibility was unbelievable, you almost
had the thought that when I step out of this movie theater the world would be in total chaos.

If you asked me the question “Would you watch this movie again?” I would probably walk away, of
course I would. There are people who do think that this movie isn’t that good, but I am not one of
those people. It is great fourth part to the tetra logy and assuming the ending (which I am not
going to give away) I think that we can be expecting a part 5.
This movie deserves five stars.
