STANDARD LESSON PLAN FORMAT


I. Describe the Class

5th grade, 28 students, 2 of which have a learning disability

II. Objective(s)

The objective of the lesson is to be able to fix grammatical and punctuation errors in
paragraphs provided. By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to correct a
paragraph without teacher help with 90% accuracy.

III. Procedures

1. Review different common grammatical and punctuation errors as a class on the


board.
2. Discuss the correct way note them in the paragraphs when editing.
3. Have students come up to correct sentences on the board for practice, students not
at the board will do theirs on their own paper.
4. At the end of the lesson a short paragraph will be provided for the students to edit
on their own without help from the teacher or peers.

White board/smart board
Paragraph of errors handout
Worksheet for error fixes for the 2 LD students

V. Grouping Structures - There will be no groups


VI. Modifications

For students with specific learning disabilities, they will receive a handout with
sentences from each paragraph used during the lesson to correct on their own
time. The educator will attend to these students while the others are working on
their paragraphs. Class participation will be encouraged but not necessary.

VII. Assessment

Once the time is up students will pass their papers to the right and as a class
we will go over the correct changes. The peer will grade the paper and hand it
back at the end. 90% accuracy is the goal of the final grading.
