REACTION PAPER- AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH BY AL GORE

My knowledge on global warming and its impact to us is just little before I watched the

documentary “An inconvenient truth” by Al Gore. Global warming, as defined by wikipedia,

is a long-term rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system, an aspect of climate

change shown by temperature measurements and by multiple effects of the warming. I knew

that global warming contributes to the sudden changes in our climate. But what I don’t know

is how great the impact global warming to us, to our environment and to our earth.

I was skeptical, at first because I thought that it’s just another boring documentary, but

as the film progressed to a point where his jokes got funnier and his arguments, more

convincing. This film shows the enormous impact and inconvenient truth of climate change

and Gore’s advocacy through the years had on raising such awareness.

The film shows the facts of the differences of Earth’s structure and nature before

compared to present. These differences were caused by global warming that affect and alarmed

all the people in the world. Global warming is the result of the gradual increase of greenhouse

gases in the ozone layer, which trapped the sun’s heat in the earth’s atmosphere. Human

activities like car carbon emission industrialization and deforestation are some activities that

produces these greenhouse gases. As a result, it makes the melting of glaciers faster, extreme

weather events, species extinctions, changes in nature, and etc.

Another issue that Al gore raised is the issue on politics, how the leaders respond to the

problem of climate change. He gives depth explanations as to how all this damage has come
to occur and why most people fail to respond to all warnings concerning about the planet.

Politics and mislead information has been given to most public, so that this issue can be ignored

and not resolved as solutions and alternatives can cause a lot of problems and hassles

economically. It a conflict between economy versus environment that every state must balance.

In conclusion, this film turned out to be a wake-up call for me. It made me cautious

about global warming issue, making me anxious for instant help to our Earth. I hope other will

also feel what I feel for this problem. For this is the problem that humanity will mostly affected

because it signifies all existing living things are in danger. Everything’s not yet too late. We

can still have the chance to solve this crisis such as planting more trees, use electricity less, use

water less, use cars less, and especially supporting any environment solutions.
