4. Apart from academics, what are the avenues for personality and co-
curricular development within the department?
The department is proud of the fact that almost all of our faculty members are from
nationally and internationally reputed institutions/universities (like IITs). We
ensure highest standards for our faculty and almost all our faculty members are
either PhD or are pursuing PhD from intuitions/universities of national/international
repute. Please click here to know more about our faculty members.
The department has 27 laboratories in total. The department ensures that all its labs
are updated every year. Its labs have well equipped advanced machines and
equipments that provide the facilities for conducting the experiments and training
for the students as per the market requirement. For example, the department’s
highly advanced computational research lab has all important mechanical
engineering softwares like ANSYS, Solidworks, Matlab, Autocad, Fluent (CFD)
etc. These softwares help our students in gaining designing and other relevant skills
with are required by the industry. This computational lab is fully networked and can
be accessed by students and faculty members through their wi-fi enabled laptops
provided by the institute. Its recently developed Center of Excellence in
collaboration with Daikin Air conditioners Pvt Ltd. to ensure hands-on practical
exposure for the students and help them acquire the new technologies being
practiced in the air-conditioning industry. Its Mechanics lab. Developed in
collaboration with Beijing Wave Spectrum Science Ltd. with an investment of
about 0.5 crores is an example of eagerness of industry to associate with us. Its IC
Engine lab (equipped with CRDi and other technologies) and its Robotics lab. are
yet another examples of department’s eagerness to always remain upgraded with
recent technologies. Please click here to look at the complete details of the labs in
Mechanical Engineering Department. In order to assist our students, each lab has a
dedicated and qualified lab staff.
At NCU, we know that it is the graduation years that one cherishes throughout their
life and it is not only the knowledge gained but also the right attitude developed at
alma mater that lays the building blocks for one’s growth. Our B.Tech/M.Tech
programs aim at providing a strong foundation
in Theoretical, Practical and Design Aspects of Engineering. Our specialized
courses aim at producing professionals with a sound knowledge in engineering as
well as having a well-groomed personality.
Our engineers learn to work in team with other specialists to Design, Fabricate,
Produce, Test and Supervise the manufacturing of complex products and systems
for a number of different types of industries. We follow Practical Oriented
Teaching Practices to help our students to be readily placed in some of the best
companies.
Research is the key to the development of our department. Research exposure to the
students is provided through following means:
B.Tech:
M.Tech:

14. What is the scope and opportunities for Mechanical engineering graduates?
Mechanical engineers design, analyze, program and supervise in the fields of
manufacturing, design, robotics, product development, industrial engineering, thermal
engineering, energy and many more. Engineers are also employed in technical sales,
marketing and support positions for business and scientific equipment/software.
Thus, there are tremendous job opportunities for Mechanical graduates and post
graduates not only in core fields (manufacturing, air conditioning, oil & gas, design,
industrial, automobile, robotics, energy etc) but also in non-core areas (software,
service industry, and marketing). The ‘Make in India’ initiative by government of India
has lead to significant growth in the fields related to mechanical engineering.
Being the most generalized branch the Mechanical graduates enjoy the benefit of both
the worlds and have an edge in comparison with other branches. Besides there are
opening in Govt. and public sector as well either directly or through competitive exams
like GATE. All B.Tech students at NCU appear for GATE exam. and with good score
can find entry in these jobs. The placement record for Mechanical students has been
nearly 100% for all eligible students for last so many years.
Many of our students also opt for MBA or for higher studies abroad or in India at
reputed institutions. Many of our passed out students are pursuing their MS/PhD from
USA, UK, Australia, Canada and other countries in addition to M.Tech and MBA from
reputed institutes of India.
In addition to the above many of our students go for IES / Civil Services and
Engineers in Navy/Army/Air force, and thus serve the country in this manner.
The following summarises the opportunities available for graduates for Mechanical
Engineers:
There are 1 Girls Hostels and 2 Boys Hostel and all are located within a range of 1 Km
from the college. The rooms are spacious and are well furnished with beds, study table,
inbuilt cupboards, ceiling fans and lights. The hostels have the following facilities:
Internet Facility
