    Harvest Loop

    This infinity scarf is worked flat, back and forth. It can be worn
    wrapped once or twice around your neck. You can easily increase
    or decrease the length of this garment by adding additional rows.

    MATERIALS
    Harvest Yarns- Maize (Painted Mountain)
    by Sweitzer’s Fiber Mill
    Maize is 67% merino wool, 33% Ingeo Corn fiber
    aran weight
    280 yards (2 skeins 140 yards each)

    SIZE
    16” x 63”

    GAUGE
    2 stitches = 1” stockinette stitch blocked

    NEEDLES
    US 11 – 8.0 mm straight needles

    TOOLS
    Waste yarn (for provisional cast on)
    Crochet hook (for provisional cast on)
    Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)

    T-pins & Blocking wires (blocking wires not necessary but highly
    recommended)

    SKILL LEVEL - Advanced beginner


    Skills needed: knit, purl, yarn over, decrease and graft

    ABBREVIATIONS SSK- slip one stitch knitwise from


    K- knit left to right needle, now replace
    P- purl the stitch back to the left hand
    RS- right side needle, knit the first two stitches
    WS- wrong side together through the back loops
    YO- yarn over (1 stitch decrease)
    K2tog- knit two stitches together
    (1 stitch decrease)

    TO BEGIN
    Provisional cast on 32 stitches using waste yarn.
    At the end of this project you will graft the two ends of the infinity scarf together to make a seamless join. If you prefer to not graft
    the two ends together you can simply cast on 32 stitches using your preferred cast on method and sew the two ends together upon
    completion of the scarf. If you are going to graft the ends together leave a 30” tail when you begin row one with your working yarn.
    You will use the tail to graft the ends together when you are done knitting.

    R1 (RS)- K16, [yo, K2tog] repeat [ ] to the end


    R2- (WS)- purl to end
    R3- (RS)- K15, [SSK, yo] repeat [ ] until 1 stitch remains, K1
    R4- (WS)- purl to end

    Repeat Row 1 – Row 4* until your infinity scarf measures 63” or to your desired length.
    *Ending on row 3 if you are grafting the ends together.
    Place your live stitches on a stitch holder or waste yarn.

    BLOCKING
    I suggest blocking your infinity scarf before grafting the ends together.
    Soak your infinity scarf in water according to your yarn directions. Let it soak for 15 minutes. Place your infinity scarf on
    towels and roll them up burrito style to remove any excess water. Lay your scarf out and block with blocking wires and
    T-pins to the desired overall size. Let dry.

    FINISHING
    Remove the provisional cast on and replace the cast on stitches back to a live needle. Next place the stitches from the other
    end that you have on waste yarn or a yarn holder on to a live needle. Now using the Kitchener method graft the two ends
    together (see special instructions).

    Weave in any loose ends.

    SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
    Kitchener Stitch-
    With the right sides facing out place your yarn on a tapestry needle. Your yarn should be on the back needle.
    Step 1- with the tapestry needle go through the first stitch on the front needle as if to purl.
    Step 2- with the tapestry needle go through the first stitch on the back needle as if to knit.
    Step 3- with the tapestry needle go through the first stitch on the front needle as if to knit and pull it off.
    Step 4- with the tapestry needle go through the first stitch on the front needle as if to purl.
    Step 5- with the tapestry needle go through the first stitch on the back needle as if to purl and pull it off.
    Repeat steps 2-5 until all stitches have been grafted. Weave in loose ends and enjoy!
