OURVILLAGE
Your Monthly Higher Kinnerton Community Newsletter

Christmas is coming
Our annual Christmas Carol Concert at the Village Hall is being held on Friday 15th December. Yes, we learned from
last year not to hold the event on a Saturday night in competition to the Strictly Come Dancing Final, so hopefully many
more villagers will attend this year. As in previous years, there will be mulled wine and mince pies available and Buckley
Town Band leading the carol singing.
There will be more details in next month’s newsletter but in the meantime, we are looking for someone with a keyboard
who would come and play at the concert. If you are that person or know of someone who would step forward, then
please get in touch by contacting the Community Council on 660277.

Third time lucky!

Villagers will have noticed the new traffic calming platform being installed outside the cottages on Main Road. This is
part of the traffic calming improvements Higher Kinnerton Community Council previously reported in this newsletter.

The contractors employed by Streetscene to carry out the work did not install the platform correctly on the first
installation, as it didn’t follow the profile of the road. This resulted in there being no discernible raised platform in the
centre of the road and it failed to slow vehicles down. They were called back to install the platform correctly which they
did, however, although the platform was now at the correct height right across the road, the approaches on either side
were left steep making it very noisy for residents living close by and difficult for vehicles to cross the platform safely.

The contractors have now been back again and it is hoped that this time the platform will perform its function of slowing
the traffic down while not causing undue inconvenience to motorists and residents alike.

The remaining traffic calming work on the Babylon Bridge and at the entrance to the village will be completed in the
next couple of weeks.
