Reflection On Reading As Physiological Process
As reading involve greatly on mind activity; it may also exercise the muscle organ of our
mouth as we vocalized reading information and practice intonation, pronunciation and voice
modulation. Barton (2013) defined reading as a physiological process as your brain needs to
react to what is on the page. It is the thinking and alertness of the brain that is used to process
the words that are on a page or screen when you read. Whilst you are alert and thinking, the
brain is working at full capacity, but even at rest it is performing physiological functions to keep
us alive and keep us breathing. Our body is constantly performing physiological tasks, most of
the time we are not aware of the reactions within our body that our brain and nervous system
are causing.
Reflection on Reading as Cognitive Process
In everyday world humans naturally seek out others to help them solve problems
and perform tasks. They exploit each other’s skills and appropriate each other’s
knowledge .Conversation and collaborative learning should be encouraged because it is
the most natural way of meaning making. We cannot achieve these ends if the students
will not be able to read and comprehend what had been they were reading.
