    Answer any FIVE questions
    All questions carry equal marks

    1 (a) Discuss the applications of digital signal processing.
    (b) Sketch following signal and find its energy or power whichever is appropriate.
    x(n) = u(n) - u(n-5).

    2 (a) Show that DFS of periodic sequence xp(n) is periodic with same period.
    (b) State and prove duality property of DFS.

    3 Draw the flow graph for 16-point radix – 2 decimation in time FFT algorithm and explain
    it briefly. Label the multipliers appropriately.

    4 (a) Compare direct forms I and II realizations.


    (b) Realize system with direct form for given h(n) = {1,2,3,4,3,2,1}.

    5 Obtain the analog filter transfer corresponding to filter order of 3 and 4, consider
    Butterworth approximation.

    6 Give the expression for hamming window function. Find its frequency response and
    sketch its spectrum. Also discuss its features.

    7 Consider X(n) = tri (n/6). Sketch the following signals and describe how they differ:
    (a) X (3n/2), using zero interpolation followed by decimation.
    (b) X (3n/2), using decimation followed by zero interpolation.

    8 With the help of block diagram, explain about signal compression system.
